This is been a political thread since page one then it turned into a MAGA bashing thread. BTW the left is nothing but a wrecking ball to western civilization.

The right has hardly saved the world either, and I would say people like Trump and George Bush helped create a lot of the mess and conflict we see today. But the left is not beyond criticism either. From somewhere near the middle, it is possible to admit that both sides have some good points, and both sides have also caused a lot of damage.

That is what people with great responsibility often do when they are forced to act, not because they truly believe in what they are doing, but because they believe the voters expect it. It is mostly a show for the gallery, and it seems you fall for it.

And you can ask yourself how mental someone has to be to still believe in Trump.

Just think about it. If Biden or Kamala had behaved like him on social media, the reaction would have been ugly. So right now, the mental part seems to sit mostly on the right.

I think what he means by mental illness is people who don't agree with him or his views/opinions 🤕

Trump says a lot of silly things that will never happen, That's just his ego speaking and even Congress takes it all with a grain of salt. Many are threats, and they work if it backs off someone. What's better than hearing a threat from a loose cannon with the strongest military on earth, along with having things like Venezuela happen?

I do not believe you even believe what you are saying yourself. There is no common sense in holding Trump up as the saviour of the USA for even one second. You are not only lying to the rest of us, you are lying to yourself as well.

People can convince themselves of anything. Accepting that someone else could be right is the hardest thing in the world for some. That's not aimed at anyone in particular.

Since we are discussing Trump...in some ways, he is simply doing the bidding of big business in the USA. They come up with ways America can benefit and he tries to carry out their wishes. That is him winning for America. Add in market manipulation, extortion, bribery...it's all good for his backers and those on the inside.

So I can understand those who support him, as they see him winning for the USA. But they fail to see that the outside world sees many of the actions as illegal, unscrupulous and evil.

So you get this divide of people who still have a moral compass...and Trump supporters.

So everything was peachy dandy in the middle east before Bush and Trump?

Why did you leave out Obama and Biden?

What was the alternative to Trump, and what would that have entailed?

I agree both sides play their part, but right now it is the rest of the world Trump is messing with. He is not saving the Western world. He is making the rest of the world despise what the West stands for, with all its double standards. That creates internal division, and we lose the strength that comes from being allies.

The rest of the world looks at Trump and MAGA as the real mentals.

So when MAGA calls the left mental, it is just projection. What you see in the mirror is what you project onto others, and that is why so many MAGAs come across as angry when they debate. The hate against the left is very real, and it is hard to believe you do not see it yourself. But that is what projection is about, the mirror on the wall.

When politics starts looking like American wrestling, you know there is a serious problem. And it is fair to say that parts of American culture and politics have become far too comfortable rewarding loud, toxic, alpha-style behaviour.

So either half the US is mental, or people lacking the ability to argue their position, are just resorting to name-calling, @jvs and @IsmeUno for example.

That you think have the people in the US are mental says more about you than them.

Why did you leave out Obama and Biden?

No, everything was not peachy before Bush and Trump, and Obama and Biden should not be left out either. But Reagan should also be part of the picture. Republicans have for a long time shown a stronger tendency to use power hard in the Middle East, whether through direct war, military backing, or strategic support for regimes that served U.S. interests. Reagan tilted the U.S. toward Iraq during the Iran–Iraq War, Bush launched the Iraq War, and Trump pushed a more openly aggressive line again. Democrats have also used force, but usually in a more polished and less openly confrontational way. And long before the hostage crisis, the U.S. backed the Shah, who was no democratically chosen leader but an authoritarian ruler who stayed useful to Washington. That is part of the pattern too: dictators are often tolerated, protected, or excused when they serve U.S. interests.

To every action there is a reaction, and Republicans seem to thrive on noise and hostility. For allies, this feels like a turning point, and Trump knows it. That is why he keeps getting louder and more threatening. He is helping to wreck the West, and if you think otherwise, just read the heading of this thread. Some here even seem to welcome the chaos he is creating, want the US out of NATO, want trade deals destroyed, and still believe Trump’s methods will work. I would say you have to be mental to believe that.

I can live with that, but honestly, I did not say all Americans are mental. A lot of Americans clearly struggle with mental health challenges, but that does not make them bad people, wrong in everything, or politically extreme by default. Much of it is cultural as well. And honestly, your ancestors did some pretty brutal and irrational things just to get to America in the first place, and then to conquer land from the indigenous people. That was hardly the work of a balanced or peaceful mindset either.

You might not have noticed, but it isn't half the people in the USA posting here and it isn't them interjecting into a thread concerning mental health, with comments about the Left. That was you.

I didn't note anything political about @jvs 's opening post. That is just something that yourself and @TedG have insinuated. Honestly, from my side, it's remarkable. Take my word for it, as I don't go in for the whole Right/Left thing anyway. For me, people are people. The Right/Left thing is an obsession of yours, that is obviously having an effect on your everyday life. That is my honest observation thus far.

Never said he was the savior. The US isn't just Trump. People have to get Trump off their minds .Congress gives Trump most of his ideas and goes along with them. If he was doing something they didn't approve of already, with plans made long ago, it wouldn't happen.

He is discussing you, not Trump. You keep saying that people have to keep Trump off their minds. Why? Why should they not criticise the USA if they see something worthy of criticism? Why can you not accept criticism, is the real question. It's not just about the USA, it's about you. It's the way you react when criticised.

This is the commentary of a man who has clearly spent most of his life closeted. I'm sorry, but your post is shockingly overly simplistic and echoes the madness of the Zionists.

They also imagined just to subdue the Arabs and keep them quiet through force and division. They aren't the good guys and neither are yours. It's all self interest.

It's okay to support your country, but you also need the ability to look at both sides of the equation. Your summary is straight out of a Hollywood movie. If it were as one sided as you claim, then why haven't the Iranians capitulated? What will you say if they come out with a better deal than they had before the attack? That they lost?

That is was worth it to kill the school girls and the people at the sports hall?

You are all gung ho because it's not happening in the USA. Look at what happened with 9/11. You were all in shock, afraid and totally grief stricken. But when it's another country, you don't care and start shouting arrogantly for destruction and control over other people's lives. Totally sick and disgusting. Now your President is threatening to attack power plants and bridges, which will further devastate the lives of the Iranian people. The people who, incidentally, are forming rings around their resources in order to protect them from the USA and Israel. Do you care? Of course you do not. You care only about yourself.

You haven't a clue, sitting there, like an 'armchair quarterback' firing out directives of what should happen to the Iranian people for your idea of peace. That's not peace, that's an attempted subjugation.

I think the families of the people of the small boats blown up by the USA illegally, have quite a different idea of peace than the Americans. It all depends on where you are sitting. For you, it's your computer chair, spouting nonsense, telling us that because you know a few grunts in the military, you know more than everyone else. It's just madness 😊

Closeted? LOL Try has people who are much more informed than you'll ever be. Assumptions as usual. You haven't enough information about the US, as well as what's going on, to make any such statements. You're going by the same info others here are, which is biased and one sided, along with that hatred towards Trump, which blinds anyone who's addicted to it.

I always look at all sides, as I don't take sides and then what happens which can be proven. Not just conjecture and bias.

Killing civilians is never "worth it", as that's collateral damage that was unintentional, but happens all the time. I'm not gung ho about war. I'm gung ho about peace, and whatever it takes to get it. Pretty simplistic but escapes those with that bias, actually thinking they have all the answers, which none here do. Trump says one thing as threats, as Iran sees what the US is finally capable of, with no intentions to target civilian infrastructure. When that happens, you can judge.

Think first. LOOK AT HOW YOU REACT WHEN DISAGREED WITH. Keep your replies to those who are interested, if you can find anyone.

62 years in the same country, compared to someone who has spent at least half their life travelling around the world, meeting people in their home countries, including the USA on multiple occasions. yet you prefer to assume that you understand everything better than everyone. That's just arrogance and stupidity in my humble opinion. Braggadocio

No one can take you seriously when you express yourself in that way. You just spout a load of nonsense and conjecture, trying to dress it up as a fait accompli. You aren't fooling anyone. You don't have any more information than anyone else and you don't have an inside track. So stop with all of your arrogant nonsense and just be on the level.

We discuss these things. Sharing views from all sides. Respect the views of others without the need to issue threats, trying to shut conversations down because you cannot get your way.

Trump and the USA are legitimate targets for criticism. You prefer one way traffic. You talking and everyone else listening. Too painful for you to take anything on board and accept it as truth or potentially true.

It's a character trait.

A reminder of the topic of this thread. It's not about politics, it's currently about how people express themselves through politics.

I didn't say anything of the sort, so again you assume. Try for once to stick with the TRUTH, and not the way you turn it around. I don't see anyone else here answering like you, but I do see a lot arguing how you interact with others.

Try to understand that you know very little of what's going on, and traveling around the world makes you an expert at? Nothing. Living in a country for 62 years does have you with a lot of knowledge about it, especially when you are involved with the daily news from many sources, both there and abroad.

You are seeing the same news that everyone on earth can, without the news from military family and friends which some of us have if you tried for once to reply without an assumption, you might give others here a heart attack, as it would be a shock to the system. You do not respect others here but demean them when they prove you wrong, or even disagree. That's your deal, not mine.

Trump of course is a target for criticism, as all leaders are, especially those that take matters into their hands while the previous ones didn't. Past history of the US, especially in any wars, means nothing now, so again, it's better to stop arguing and wait for the end result, as you might just embarrass yourself even more than you already have.

Endgame again for you, so go and argue with others, and if you keep it up the way you do, this username might also get banned.

You're also talking about many governments in a smaller scale. The US doesn't need oil like you think it does. It gets less than 10% from the Middle East and is one of the largest exporters. You consistently dismiss the main facts of this war, which is terrorism related. Closing the Strait is affecting a lot of the world's oil trade, which is another problem that needs to stop.

Some have Donald Trump on the brain and think this is all about money. The man knows he has little time left, and has more money then him and his family will ever need. This is about power for him.

Oil is fungible. That means its price in America goes up just as much there, as it does anywhere else. Gasoline in California has increased in cost by 30% since the war started.

True, Trump is about power. As Lord Acton said. "Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely". However, it is also about staying out of jail. His name appears in the Epstein files only slightly less often than Smith appears in a telephone directory.

Do you really think if Harris had won in 2024, Trump would still be free? He is a criminal.

As far as that, I agree. If he's guilty of what some think he's done, he should be in jail.

There is no think about it. Convicted on 34 counts of falsifying records, by a jury of his peers. Adjudged a rapist in a civil case, where he has not paid one cent in damages. On record as attempting to suborn votes in Georgia. Keeping top secret records at Mar-A-Lago. That's before anyone even gets to Epstein files that have not been tampered with by Bondi.

FFS, are you blind? How many spots does a leopard need before you will call it a leopard?
