The city exists as a testament to the foreign male sex drive and the local women's love of money. There never was a plan. With the baht being as strong as it is, industry is closing down.

I can imagine most regular ex-pats in Pattaya welcome the slow down in tourist numbers after the Songkran holiday

Where most will be welcome in their watering holes with less foreign tourists around

Well I was until the news came about this El Ninio for the rest of the year!

No Indians being robbed by the LB's?

Bouncers beating up bill skippers?

Foreigners in drunken brawls?

I'm sort of let down here.......Aseannow going to be out of business.......🤣

I spoke to a couple of business owners who have been in Pattaya for a decade or more and they aren't optimistic. The bottom end of the market won't be coming back. It isn't just the airfares but the inflation back home. Some of the pubs and restaurants we're used to eating at might not be there by August. The men I spoke to have plenty of capital but are questioning whether it's worth carrying the overhead until next high season with no end in sight to the Iran fiasco. One establishment had already let quite a few staff members go.

Yesterday I spoke to an ex-resident of Pattaya ( lived there for 12 years ) who said Pattaya is not what it used to be . Many bars have gone and Walking Street has many Indian restaurants / bars , plus many Indian tourists too . Not many attractive bar girls as most of the better ones have gone to online apps . Many bars high alcohol prices are aimed at the 2 week millionaires . Top that with high flight fares . Future looks bleak .

Massage or maybe the soapie joints is the way to go. if I was doing a do over in my lifestyle in Thailand I'd definitely go that route.

I think it's great in Pattaya but I'm not looking for bars every night, couldn't care less about the Indians, doesn't effect me, i still go to Walking St. This time of year is great for everywhere being less busy, less riff raff tourists who seem to get in fights daily

I enjoyed Pattaya this year better than last year and it was not just subjective. Less crowds due to the war in the Middle-East.

Agree with you Scuba

Indians have never bothered me. I rarely go Walking St anyway these days albeit no complaints when I do

Times have changed (good and bad) and customers need to accept that

Try manoeuvring around a group of them walking down soi Buakhou.

We need to bring back those young Thai guys who were giving these idiots a slap on the back of the head to the Indians walking on the road obstructing traffic

I was in Pattaya recently leaving on the 10th. It wasn't that quiet the place I like to eat in the mall which is usually not busy was packed. People in bars were saying how many customers they had.

Perhaps forced in there by the rain?

But you would not think it was quiet judging by the constant heavy traffic on the roads after lunch and through to the evening.

It's a long weekend so half of Bangkok will turn up to traipse around the shopping malls that they have none of in Bangkok...

also no booze sales from midnight tonight 30th till midnight 31st...

sorry for your 'inconvenience'

Yes I stocked up just now, lucky my local sewell put a notice on the fridge or the morality police would have caught me out again.

Pattaya is never really 'quiet' anymore, and hasn't been for years, except during covid. Instead, it has times when the tourist attractions are a little less busy. Pattaya itself, though, is booming with new construction literally everywhere and a rapidly growing non-tourist population.

Beachside, all those massive new condo projects are not sitting empty. It seems like almost every day I read of a new one being announced--I am interested in what is being constructed but I can't keep up with all the new projects.

It might be an even bigger story on the Darkside, where I now live. Here, there are even more new projects all over the landscape. Mabprachan, my area, has become extremely popular and there is construction everywhere you look. Huay Yai is also quite popular and also has lots of new development going on. There are at least a half-dozen developments going up just around my housing estate.

Spouse and I are building a new house on the Darkside for ourselves and the other day we had to pick something up at Mega Home. When it first opened I remember there were some comments on AN as to why Pattaya needed another home store, and would it attract any customers. Well, the parking lot, on a week day morning, was quite full. And, since Mega's opening, Pattaya has added yet another Home Pro, and a very nice one with a restaurant, on the way to Sri Racha--to join another large home store--Do Home--a few doors down the road. These new home stores opening, adding to the ones already here, point to a rapidly growing housing market--and a growing number of shoppers for home products.

You have to wonder why some people are so fixated on hating the Jews and supporting the terrorist Hamas living among the so called Palestinians. And taking it so far as to discuss this hatred with the service people of Thailand which obviously do not care one bit.
