The city exists as a testament to the foreign male sex drive and the local women's love of money. There never was a plan. With the baht being as strong as it is, industry is closing down.

I recommend Aree Massage on Buakhao by Tree town entrance, nice place refurbished and some gems hidden in there, they seem to do shifts, some up stairs waiting, some outside

That's the one set up high, stairs leading up from street.

I've noticed plenty of girls outside, looks lavish from the street.

Is it expensive?

I spoke to a couple of business owners who have been in Pattaya for a decade or more and they aren't optimistic. The bottom end of the market won't be coming back. It isn't just the airfares but the inflation back home. Some of the pubs and restaurants we're used to eating at might not be there by August. The men I spoke to have plenty of capital but are questioning whether it's worth carrying the overhead until next high season with no end in sight to the Iran fiasco. One establishment had already let quite a few staff members go.

Not really a tourist Mecca. Soon Pattaya will be the valley of the blind with skint pensioners as the one eyed kings.

Yeah, it's great from an egocentric point of view.

But businesses are struggling in low season.

But it's ok to only think of yourself. That's what most people are doing anyway.

Maybe a bad idea to have 90% of the city be based around tourism.

Should have more diverse industries.

But what do I know about city planning?

Not much, I fancy.

There is more to Pattaya than tourism..................which you will know if you have crossed the Sukhumvit

Thailand is the best after the high winter season if you have things to get done (house renovations, other tailor jobs etc etc), as there are far less foreigners who foolishly accept to pay the high price for service that can be rushed, with cheap materials and unqualified staff.

A waitress was complaining about Trump so I explained Israel's role as main antagonist and brought up a picture of Dirty Bibi. As soon as she saw the Israeli flag she said " them again?". The Thais get the news about the islands and Pai. They must have all discussed the matter because from then on the aspersions were cast on Israel.

Must also have something to do with the mass influx of bargain basement Indian tourists on company tours, Russians etc., imo. All the forums I've seen on Facebook have plenty of punters stating they are giving Pattaya a swerve now because of the way it's going nightlife-wise.

Whenever I fly back and forth to UK, the flights are always full fwiw. Always been the case. That may change with the current Mideast conflict but won't be long term. Plenty of money sloshing around for holidays regardless, it seems.

One reason Thai banks took the opportunity to now be charging 350 baht for cash withdrawals en masse. Taking the proverbial. Vietnam still zero with 2 major banks. I just spent a week in HCMC (Hanoi 2 weeks last year), and while I prefer the Thailand vibe still, it's becoming complacent and overpriced.
