Sorry for the reaction though isn’t a quote a reaction?

No, a reaction is when another member, who remains anonymous, clicks an emoji, a quote is when they actually type a answer and you can see who it is

Excuse me while I react with a quote…

Well then perhaps request that the cowardly anonymous emoji thing no longer be anonymous, or even to be more civil, just ban the use of them altogether and completely.

Thank you. I am guilty of emoji-ing but I totally agree, ban the silly emojis, which are mostly used incorrectly or spitefully, and no one knows who it is.

I have just clicked my last emoji and will use proper replies although there is an unenforced ban on very short answers

And this is a quote to you, thank you.

Negativity and toxicity seems to be a built in function of the site. Whereas other discussion forums that are thriving strive to maintain civility with having only positive emojis or none at all, the ability to completely ignore and hide other profiles so both users can’t see each other’s posts and profiles, and don’t have a perpetual redundancy of political rants that are pushed. This really makes one wonder why some captains sink their own boats to the point of having only a small few survivors drifting about yelling at each other in desperation. This site can do a lot better and draw in many more users with just a handful of tweaks, though it ain’t gonna happen.

I do admit that I am quite negative and sometimes a bit toxic and insulting if I deem the poster in question deserves it. I get enough of that BS myself.

I shall try to turn over a new leaf, or possibly leave this forum and find a nicer one.

Negative 'thumbs down' emoji discourages comment for many reasons. They are used by stalkers often without even reading a comment purely because they dislike the poster. Negative emojis should either in the least be made 'named' or preferably do away with the 'thumbs down' altogether..............Not receiving any emjoi in itself can also be interpreted as others' not liking the post. That in itself should be enough. Negative emojis imo ruin the essence of the old Thai Visa as many remember it................

I enjoy the ambiguity of the laughing one as it's either 'you're avving a laugh mate' ....or one is genuinely tickled.....

How can you enjoy something that you don't know what it means, or who put it there.

Because iether way, one can take it as a positive, well I can, 'tickled'obviously pleased you made someone laugh and you're avving a laugh' nice to know that someone doesn't get it...........in your mind at least..........

I meant leave AN, formerly Thai Visa, or is that obviously pedantic, after 14 years and a good member. Just sick of the nastiness and stupidity posted by many, possibly including myself sometimes, and as I said previously, the emojis which I have used in the past. Sometimes I cannot decide which to tick if any

If in doubt, leave it out..............

If you had the ability to completely hide and be hidden from other posters profiles and posts, then you wouldn’t be drawn and baited in, out of sight and out of mind and then suddenly the forum becomes a much more pleasant place. Many OP’s are baiting posts. For the everyday normal person browsing the internet and passing by, it’s a real eyesore that overwhelms the good the site has to offer and nothing worth engaging with.

Then I would not be on this AN thing. I guess that I could hide or be hidden by not logging in.

I just did so. See what answer I get.

I could be wrong but it seems all the political threads have reduced the traffic on the forum overall. Its become so monotonous. I personally have cut back my engagement. Same old song and dance...... day in day out.

I did warn a number of months back that it had reached its peak regarding a certain topic. Now it's having an effect on the appeal.

The function is to block and hide another user from engaging and replying to your posts and sending you messages to de-escalate conflict and harassment, the toxicity of which seems to be an intentional function of this forum. It’s kind weird in this day and age considering all the tools that are available for running websites these days.

So very true.....................social media has also replaced what was once the old TV, no going back, younger crowd, even into their 40's won't wanna engage with the demographic on here regardless of topics and tempo, just a generation thing...

I agree. In notifications it would be great if it was only "so and so quoted you". All the reactions there, especially when there are members who no matter what you post go thumbs down are unnecessary.

Just because I think Trump is a clown shouldn't immediately get a thumbs down. 🤣

You're now in the world of insulting clowns and get an Epstein emoji🤡

18 notifications today, 16 Reactions and 2 Quotes.

How can I stop being notified of anonymous members reacting to my, or anyone else's posts?

You can turn 'reactions' off. I did, as they are fairly useless, since I don't know who 'somebody' is.

Nobody is forcing you to even open notifications of Quotes.

Live with your choices, instead of crying about them ... cheesy

I have now been able to stop crying and get only Quotes in my Notifications list.

Now how good would it be if I could say, right click and delete them once read, like with most other apps.

If the aren't BOLD, then they're old. Really that hard to ignore them. Use to be a 'clear' button ... oh well.

No, they are BOLD until you read one of them, then they ALL go un-bold.

The Notification page only show the last 5, for me anyway, and I can scroll down to see 10. Then there is 'See All Notifications, which today took me back a week or so. But no way to delete any of them. ...oh well.

While list is open, if going to reply, I open in another tab, the 1 or 2 showing, so I don't need to keep opening. I really don't get that many, as I slowed way down from posting much. Many I don't even reply to, as trolling me.

Only a few since Thursday ... and I didn't ever reply to all of those.
