Is it fair for older men to date much younger women?

I do worry about what her life will be like after I've gone - but that's why 'our' house is in her name, and we've also bought some rental properties in her name for her future income.

But I also remind myself that she pursued me, not the other way around. She was 30 and I was 51, and she decided she wanted to be my wife.

She used most of her wages to pay for English lessons, she got her driving license so she could pick me up from the airport after my weekly business trips - she'd be at the meeting point in Suvarnabhumi with an iced drink and a big smile at whatever time my flights arrived. Then she just sort of moved in, made sure I ate healthily, and she stocked the fridge, cleaned the house and started to help with my business.

She knew she was irresistibly hot, but she also worked hard to make herself indispensable, as she knew beauty is not in short supply in Thailand. Sixteen years later and she still works hard in our partnership. She's says our relationship is 80/20, with her doing the 80%, which is harsh, as it's more like 75/25 😅

But yes, I ask her sometimes if she wished she had a younger husband, but she says "you've always been old, you were old when I met you, you're older now, that the relationship I chose".

She believes we were meant to be together in this life and the next, and doesn't worry about it ..... she has a very Thai outlook on fate.

In each and every case, this is for the "much younger woman" to decide, not for some other man's or woman's jealous ass.

I don’t know what fairness has to do with this; it really comes down to money. The older man has it, and the young woman wants some of it. It's a means to increase their standard of living. You mostly

So basically you're saying that if a man is double a woman's age, he might have other things to offer which a younger man closer to her age can't provide, and in that sense she's not being short changed because she may sacrifice some things, but gains others. So it's still a win-win for her?

The old man gets a young hot woman, and she gets his stuff when he dies. It's a win-win for both sides.

In November-February relationships, it's about what the couple wants - it's not about you or anyone else. With that said, it's not my cup of tea, but men and women over the age of consent can make up their own minds as to the happiness their relationship bring them. I.e., it's none of your business.

Unless he secretly leaves everything to his mia noi.

Nothing I guess. It's hard to explain the feeling. Still feels a bit unfair in a way. Like the woman is being shortchanged. Like she hands you a twenty to change for her into smaller bills and you hand her back a ten and a five and only four ones. She notices, but doesn't complain because she thinks it is still good enough. But it is still unfair to her even though she accepts it.

Why do you have so much problem with this. Let´s say like this instead. Maybe the girl is smart. She just decide to give 10-15 tear of her life to a 75-80 year old man. After she might be 25-40, have a good education and been left with enough money to carry her through life. Mybe she even enjoy it a bit while it last. How do you think about that?

That's so sweet. Nearly brought a tear to my eye. Now you've made me want to have a sweet little Thai wife when I grow up one day.

is it unkind for them to get involved with women who are half their age

It's unkind not to.

Personally, I tend to think it is not fair,

This is the problem, you are not thinking.

The guy is providing for the woman

Most of these younger women have children, families to support.

In the west the government would provide social security and welfare payments (thousands of dollars after the birth) for these mothers, government would garnish the fathers wages, the woman may be on maternity leave, she has income but sadly in Thailand these very POOR young woman have no money to support herself and her baby.

The government failing to provide support for these single, abandoned mothers, they do not receive social security payments or welfare cheques, the government does not force fathers to support their child or garnish fathers wages.

Concrete example.

My girlfriend is 35 and I'm 75. She's the one who pursued me despite my attempts to back out, too intimidated by the age gap, 40.

But there's something unusual about it: she enjoys superficial relationships, a bit like lesbians, so you know what I mean.

I think that was her main motivation.

Dare I say it suits me a little...

It sounds like a positive situation, but I'm not sure if I really understand the meaning of what you wrote. I'm trying to read between the lines, but I could be misunderstanding it. So this is a non-sexual relationship? More like a companionship of convenience? Anyway, it doesn't really matter. If you don't feel comfortable to explain more that's fine. As long as you're happy and it's working for both of you that's all that counts.

30 years younger is minimum. 40 is better. Seems fair to me.

Of course. If the younger woman is willing why the hell not?

My woman is a lot younger than me, and quite pretty, and when we go back to the US I get all kinds of looks, typically looks of envy from the men, and nasty or disapproving looks from the women, as if to say what you're doing isn't right, what you're doing isn't fair, you should have been made to jump over far higher hurdles then you have.

And I got the same reaction when I was living on Samui from foreign tourists, it's a hoot. It's so much fun to see the foreign women getting bent out of shape, and to see the looks on the faces of their men. It's almost as if they're saying "wow I'm with this one, and you're with her? Jeez".

Why wouldn't an older guy want to be with a younger woman if he could afford it, and if it was possible?

I tried women my age back in the US, and for the most part I found them to be rigid, close-minded, way too opinionated, conventional, incredibly inflexible, and a lot less fun than younger women. Also quite a bit harder to look at.

The age gap itself isn't the issue, main thing that stops me is they will want a family and that lifestyle which i don't want.

A slightly older lady who has had all those things already would be better.

Nightmare scenario, becoming an accidental father in 60s, which is a reason to follow the vasectomy on arrival signs at the airport

Meeting your girl at 30 gave you a better opportunity compared to even 25. Seems you have but together a good life!

A friend has a friend who is married to thai lady 40 years younger, the farang has lost interest in sex so the lady is open about having sex with the gardener who has even moved in and goes on holidays with them, old farang has no choice because he's at the vulnerable age

Sounding a little like Trump :) He had money and bought his looker and keeps her happy. Money rules the world and having it allows you to buy lavish things like girls half your age. If I saw you in the USA, I wouldn't judge you but many would. All good if both get what they want.

30 and 50 is still within socially acceptable, it's a mature woman who by then should have enough life experience to make her own choices.

turn me on and set my loins on fire.

why is ice cream better than a woman? Its gone after you eat it.

I've become more versatile with age, it doesn't have to be younger women anymore, restricts you too much, for me it was an accidental encounter which changed my thinking

It's not the ice cream part I worry about, it's where you stick the cones when you're done that I don't want to be forced to imagine.

The ice cream strain was quite yummy. No rubbing needed.

LOL, Ice Cream Cake is a staple in Cambodia and Thailand. None here on the East Coast at all.

The legal market here in canada has bastardized the strains. Its so sad. I remember getting new York city sour diesel....was so good.

My GF is 20 years younger than me (60:40) and my only reservation about dating her at the time we met (7 years ago) is whether she wanted to have Children or not (I don't want anymore).

I was very upfront & forthright about it & she was/is happy with it so as long as I'm not depriving her of anything I think it's perfectly ok for me to date a "Much Younger Woman" (Does it count if she's nearly 40)?
