The average life for UK male is 78 years old and government say you should spend a third in retirement...so the age should be 55..yet another friend of mine died at age 60, father of 5 lovely luk krueng kids. What happens to the years he paid NI...and countless others...UK pensioners are getting right royalty shafted. 67... not right

Funny that you never here that argument, it is only how much longer people are living. I saw a case recently of a female Government worker who died just a few months into retirement. The whole of he pension was grabbed by the Government, her husband gets none of it.

France's generous pension system will lead the country to bankruptcy. Do you know what a retired person in France earns, on average, more than a working person?

Yes and they dealt with it, they put retirement up to 64. To hear the UK Government talk you would think the UK was on verge of bankruptcy. They can't find the money to adequately fund defence spending. But hang on Starmer has just found £15 billion staffed down the back of his trousers so defence spending is safe after all.

It's all on ONS website...average male age 78 expected male age 83 no matter, even at 83 gives a man only 15 years but probably only 11...that is nowhere a third of a mans working life, women fare slightly better...robbed at every corner. Disgusting government, all of them..not to mention they are taking needed jobs off the younger generations...things were supposed to get better, not worse

Most of these changes go back to 1995 and 2011 but implemented at later dates..Tories were in power on both occasions...the only good they did but faught it tooth and nail is the triple lock which was down to Steve Webb a Lib Dem in the coalition. Labour are no better.. pensioners are the largest voting demographic and no party seems to appreciate that 67, 68 wtf can anyone do at that age

One smarty pants a few months ago suggested shouldn't get any pension if you live abroad...don't hold ya breath

I th8nk the original idea behind the pension was that the money given would then go back into the local community that the pensioner was living in.

Someone living overseas is now reducing that inflow by spending their pension in a foreign country. Taking away from taxes gathered to help the countries citizens.

That argument has been shot down years ago...if they won't pay your pension, then why should you have to pay tax...can't have it always..I don't get state pension yet but still have to pay tax on my private pensions ..and that amount will go up when I start receiving state pension

Government are making it hard for young UK natives with IT/Computing Qualifications fresh out of Uni etc with this type of nonsense:

Under the new UK-India trade deal, huge Indian IT outsourcing firms (TCS, Infosys, etc.) can temporarily post their Indian employees to the UK for up to 3 years and pay ***zero UK National Insurance (neither employer nor employee NI)***. How it disadvantages UK IT professionals:

  • Indian contractors become ~15.8% cheaper on payroll costs compared to UK hires or UK contractors.

  • This helps Indian firms win more UK contracts by offering lower rates.

  • UK companies (clients) therefore have a financial incentive to use Indian posted staff instead of local British IT professionals or contractors.

Ultimately, native IT workers may be displaced by individuals from India.

If you wont live in your country why should they pay your pension ?

If I don't live in my country, why should I pay tax....and they don't mind me not living there. I have continued my NI payments whilst living abroad, under the contract agreed in paper and on the telephone...Maybe they can refund my NI payments for the last 25 years which I have paid?..nah that argument has no holding 😁

Just goes in circles....

If you don't live in your country why should you receive a pension. I highly doubt at its inception they ever thought so many people would want to live outside of the country. They planned for the pension money to remain in the country. Being distributed throughout the community the pensioner lived in.

Simply not true, you have always been able to pay your NI regardless of where you live, and under contract that means you are paid your pension regardless of where you live, as I said many years ago I contacted DWP, received in writing and on telephone calls that by paying my NI I will receive my pension regardless of where I live...if the government wish to renage on that, then they can pay me back my NI payments with interest...and what about increases, you don't even receive them here. I know UK is becoming a banana republic but no so much they would do that

They would want you to move home for a refund. Have they not been freezing pensions of those living outside for a very long time now ?,

The increase would start again if you moved back home.

Yes freezing pensions since the pension started...so there's proof you can live abroad... 😁

I wish that someone could explain why EEA countries and Switzerland and Gibraltar plus other countries such as below have reciprocal agreements but others e.g. Canada , Australia , Thailand , India etc do not have arrangements . The freezing of UK State Pensions started in 1946 . That's 80 years ago and it is clearly not fit for purpose in today's world where travelling and retiree migration are common events . The UK government seem happy to financially assist illegal immigrants yet keep their pensioners down .

The minimum adult wage is now £12.71 per hour or £504 per 40 hours working week but a pensioner is supposed to live on half of that . Pensioners are soft targets for " I'm alright Jack " uncaring bullying

They are in really. Deficit (difference between income & expenditure) has been widening for years - what should they cut back on so you can afford more hookers?.

Starmer works for the Military Industrilal complex hence all the money sent to the black hole that is the Ukraine. They''re ALL frauds, liars and crooks.

To be honest, you're lucky you get anything at all.
They're already floating the removal of the triple lock and the next govt will likely need to do it.

Boomers are dying off and are widely percieved as having lived in a golden age where even a shop assistent or milkman could afford to buy a house. Your generation is also percieved as having overseen the destruction and transformation from UK to Yookay etc etc (Starmer is a boomer too as were the last few wretches apart from the Indian who was placed there - likely by some boomers.

You guys could have made bank so there's not much sympathy if you didn;t from people being charged £1200 a month for a <deleted> shoebox apartment.
Many (rightly or wrongly) think you guys should GFYs.

Just saying.

Anyway, ain';t gonna happen so best find something else to moan about.

Dunno what the Silent Gen did to raise so many selfish little monsters but a LARGE proprtion of western boomers are 1000% ME ME ME ME ME type babies.

There's even a good book about them called "Boomers - A_Generation_of_Sociopaths_-by_Bruce_Cannon_Gibney"

As they die off, other gens are likely to vote pension cuts for boomers so as the song goes: These Are The Good Times.

Enjoy them while they last!

Lowe and Restore and Tommy will also turn out to be frauds if they get anywhere neear power.
If not, they'll get Liz Trussed (forced out by the BoE and Financial Industrial Complex.

Pensions are a Ponzi scheme - Boomers moaning about it (not u) are delulu.

Younger gens are subsidising old bastards to spaff money up 5rd world hookers - the moaners should be thanking God - and the English taxpayers subsidising them.

Thais are family orientated so respect the old. Thai boomers didn't have 50%+ divorce rates or act like degenerates either.
They also don't desert their families to live 6000 miles away to spaff their money on foreign hookers - it's a totally different system. They may even have a legacy of HELPING THEIR OWN instead of expecting more subsidies.
Also young Thais don't have to subsidise your sweaty old self by paying your pensions.

Life expectancy has increased and you've had how many years of free money from taxpayers?
Whiney old pricks is a big reason that some get annoyed by boomers.

I want more! I paid in!
So fkn tiresome.
STFU or Foxtrot Oscar.

The Yookay (formerly the UK before the boomers inherited and ruined it with financilaisation and the importation of the 3rd world) is FLAT BROKE and being ravaged by useless eater / parasites (inc. whiney boomers via triple lock pensions & 'rNHS' pointlessly treating their decrepit useless whinging old asses).

So suck it up ry getting blood out of a stone or hurry up and die already.

The pension system is becoming a significant burden for younger generations. As they age, their views on pensions may change. If they struggle to afford a home, how can they possibly save for retirement? The West is structurally broken because fewer people are getting married and raising families. Now they lack the workers to fund the generous social programs.

UK has accepted 12 million immigrants in recent years...can't keep saying there is not enough workers, that's an ole chestnut now👍

A really hateful political choice of UK politicians showing such disregard to their own. While on the other hand they find billions for funding Ukraine, the UK royals and other absurd expenditures. No wonder that even moderate people end up in voting for Trump alikes.
