I already looking for new TV while waiting what that repair shop I gave Samsung will tell.

TCL 65Q7D good ?

Looks good on paper...

Though be aware that there are two models, (currently at the same price) from which to choose:

https://www.lazada.co.th/products/pdp-i16069361103.html

https://www.lazada.co.th/products/pdp-i16069520318.html

The main difference between the two 2026 models is that the TCL Q7D uses RGB-Mini LED backlight technology with thousands of precise color zones, while the TCL Q7D Pro upgrades to SQD-Mini LED (Super Quantum Dot Mini-LED) technology combined with a superior HVA 2.0 Pro panel, a thinner physical chassis, and advanced halo control. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

Key Differences Breakdown

  • Backlight Technology: The standard Q7D utilizes an RGB-Mini LED setup that emphasizes independent color zone control to reduce color mixing. The Q7D Pro transitions to "SQD-Mini LED" architecture, utilizing an All-domain Halo Control Technology alongside super-condensed micro-lenses to significantly lower blooming around bright objects against dark backgrounds. [1, 2, 3, 4]

  • Panel Grade: The Q7D features a standard HVA Pro panel, whereas the Q7D Pro is upgraded to an HVA 2.0 Pro panel, which offers natively higher contrast ratios and better light transmission efficiencies. [1, 2]

  • Physical Design: The Q7D Pro features an ultra-slim Micro-OD (Optical Distance) structure. This makes the Pro variant physically thinner (most sizes measure under 60mm deep) and more aesthetically flush against a wall compared to the base model. [1]

  • Color Gamut Control: While both achieve up to 100% BT.2020 wide color gamut coverage, the Q7D Pro controls colors via "Super QLED" filters that emit white light uniformly to completely negate color shift when viewed off-angle. [1, 3]

Which should you choose?

Choose the TCL Q7D if you want high-end Mini-LED peak brightness and rich color saturation at a lower price point.

Choose the TCL Q7D Pro if you watch movies in a dark room and want to avoid annoying light halos (blooming) around subtitles, prefer a sleeker wall-mounted TV profile, or want the extra responsiveness of a native 144Hz screen for PC and console gaming. [1, 2, 3]

I have similar issues with 2 LG TVs. They bothit can be done at a reasonable price. need to be repaired. and i'm guessing that means relace some parts, which all cost money.

I'm not expecting to get the 2 LG TVs repaired 'on the cheap' but I'm hoping it can be done at a reasonable price.

There is no difference—they are exactly the same TV.

In the official TCL manufacturing lineup, there is no such thing as a "non-pro" version of this model. The television is officially named the TCL Q7D Pro.

The reason you see some listings drop the word "Pro" comes down to lazy typing by third-party marketplace sellers on platforms like Shopee or Lazada. Because typing out the full name can be tedious, a shop might write a title as "TCL 65Q7D 65 Inch Mini LED" instead of "TCL 65Q7D Pro SQD-Mini LED".

But for better audio there is also TCL 65C7L

I fixed my LG TV with a very cheap replacement of this one component (metal oxide varistor)

on a power supply board..I nearly fell over in amazement when the TV worked again after the loud pop it made when blowing up.

Other Tv's have had bad dried up swollen capacitors or bad LED's on the backlight causing the set to go into protected mode..if the back light is gone you can tell by shining a bright light at the LCD screen with the tv on displaying some menu item you can just make out the picture

very faintly.

One time the LCD panel itself went bad and replacement with dubious no name Chinese panel was nearly as much as a new TV totally not worth the risk.

I think the newer cheap TV's also use bonded T-con boards there is no way to separate the board from the LCD panel so if one or other goes bad you're really stuck older models kept them separate..I imagine its a cost saving exercise or cynically a built in redundancy exercise.

Your comment is kinda scary.

Facebook and shady.

Good luck, hope it ends well for you

They diagnosed that motherboard power board also is faulty, quoted 5500 - 6500 to repair. I think I'm just going to take it back because they took it with wall mount bracket attached, and looking for new TV. But weird thing is how it comes that it's both motherboard and power board faulty simultaneously..

Maybe because it is one board or the other but instead of doing some diagnosis they have you buy both boards then swap them out..it is of course possible that a fault on the power supply board has damaged both boards.. 6,000 baht can get you quite a lot of TV these days though not quite a 55 inch 'smart' one 😋

Nonsense! Please utilise your own intelligence rather than becoming totally reliant on AI.

Furthermore, please note that the Lazada links supplied are from the Official TCL distribution site.

I'd be going for this 2026 one.

That's 10,000 baht more via the official outlet. Maybe 7,000 baht more via some online sellers.

But. Specs seems better on regional non pro version than global pro:

However, because the regional 65Q7D actually has 1,344 dimming zones, it is technically the higher-end backlight variant compared to the 480/646 zones on the global "Pro" variant page.

How do you get your VPN on your TV? On my samsung it connects via ethernet cable, so I'd need to change router settings most likely

My thai Smart TV is android based so i can put NORD VPN app in easy ,, In UK I have to use bridge router for VPN as my UK Hisense smart TV has no way of installing a VPN app due to its own software , not android ...

Of course some people use a firestick or android box with VPN added in for streaming ,, i have used I96 Android boxes in the past but they are so glitchy and the apps are always needing updates it pisses me off ,, And i dont like anything to do with Amazon ..

Ok, what I don't get is the smart TV would use the router first before getting to the vpn app

The app should create a tunnel that bypasses any settings in the router.

Actually I decided to proceed with repairing Samsung, 6400 baht total cost, screen itself is good and if it can be fixed it will be ok for me. Let's see how that Facebook service succeed. Looked at new TV's and got headache thinking about all the options 😅
