KBank - may a third-party withdraw by my QR code?

Same, that's not allowed either, because people then report a scam when their "friend" steals money

According to KBank terms and conditions it's indeed not allowed:

"The Cardholder accepts that the Debit Card is the property of KBank and the Cardholder is responsible for keeping the Debit Card and shall not transfer or deliver the Debit Card to another person."

But practically many people often use for convenience spouse/relatives cards with their authorization without any issue.

  • It will not work because it would not be a real time scan. If you are not in the country there will be a time delay and the withdrawal will be expired. Not sure if your idea is even theoretically poss

I don't know the exact expiration of the withdrawal QR code, but it's rather short. Still, what you want to do is doable, as long as you coordinate it well. Maybe keep him on a WhatsApp call and walk

Really? How? Facial recognition if the right person making the withdrawal? Dream on.

send him your atm card and pin number, DHL overnight.

Alternatively, Western union... he can collect showing his passport.

How to avoid that the friend withdraws all his money with the ATM card instead of a small amount for the mentioned expenses? I would never do that.

Don't be silly. A phone initiating a cardless ATM withdrawal transaction usually connects to the internet using a Thai mobile network. And if you allow the app access to the phone's location, that's an additional data point they can check for.

What's the difference with using the ATM card of someone else?

There is none, that also violates their terms.

I do realize it's not uncommon, but the fact remains, it's against their terms and that's because they want to put the liability for any potential misuse on the cardholder.

Suspect it won't work, as the registered device (your phone/sim) is nowhere near the ATM itself.

That’s it. It's just a reminder that the cardholder is responsible in any case unless there's a proof that misuse has occurred without cardholder consent.

Kasikorn will detect that a cash withdrawal was approved within the app while the phone is overseas. Not sure however if that might have any consequences.

Not just that. The app will know you are using a photo to scan the QR code and not the camera.

Am I correct in thinking an ATM withdrawal can be made from most banks. The funds are supplied by the sender with a code. The receiver enters that code into the ATM and the amount stated is dispensed?

Not sure of the full details, but am sure it is possible.

That in itself could be circumvented with ease, but really, they have so many ways to detect it that they would detect it one way or another anyway.

Why don’t you just pay whoever it is directly with the Thai QR code payment system? It’s nearly universal now.

Where will this money go? In the third post it was stated the recipient has no Thai bank account.

There are eWallets aimed at Foreigners who don't have a Bank Account in Thailand E.g. DeepPocket

https://senateexchange.org/en/blog/deeppocket-in-thailand/

& TagThai https://www.tagthai.com/explore/p/payment-for-foreign-tourist-in-thailand

Google says a Thai can open a DeepPocket account but not a TagThai account so somebody would need to open one for them but this would get them a Pay&Tour prepay Debit card from which they could draw up to 10,000 THB per day at Kbank ATMs.
