My Bitter Experience with Lazada.Has This Happened to You?

Featured Replies

I rarely use the Lazada app or the Shopee App because the process of looking at the reviews and translating them to English is tedious and not worth the effort.

Takes a minute or two on the PC to review the 3,2,1 star reviews and it becomes obvious if the item is legit. I use the apps for repurchases though. I never get screwed or can't remember it ever happening using the Shopee website. Lazada doesn't want you to use the website and will lock you out if you look at too many reviews.

Usually you get a full refund, assuming you followed the process

I have over 96 pages of orders dating back to 2018. Never had any real problems with Lazada. No big deal to send stuff back and .always got the refund, some times quick some times slow. but always do

Buying any sort of food on line is crazy, just asking for trouble. You can get fresh fish on every street corner in Thailand.

No, it's not.

There's a lot of different foreign foods I can't get in my area.

If you pick your venders wisely, it's not a problem.

Lots of problems, although most of them with the delivery service. Once ordered two jars of jalapenos and they arrived broken. You could hear the broken shards and the cardboard shipping box was dripping wet with the smell of jalapenos. I refused to take delivery, but the delivery service boxed things up in a new box and tried to deliver it again the next day. Refused again. Right now, I'm into day 8 for waiting for a rice cooker to be delivered all the way from 20km on the other side of Bangkok.

I ordered a new rice cooked from Shoppee earlier this week.

Using 'delivered in 2hrs', (BigC) and it was delivered in 2hrs and for 150bht less than buying it myself in BigC.

I'll look. I don't care for rice but my wife is getting anxious.

All this fuss over 240 Baht. I've lost more than that in the back of a BKK taxi.

I recently had an order delivered by KEX. KEX never marked it as delivered. I waited a few days and talked to a live agent about it. Telling them I just needed the status changed to delivered. The agent said they would look into it and send me an email. I few days later I received the email and Lazada stated that they were giving me a full refund. So I got the product for free. I hope they didn't take the money from the seller.

I've purchased umpteen items over many years from Lazada. Personally I have never had a problem with them over refunds or any other issue, and I continue to place orders almost every month.

I immediately contacted Lazada to request a full return and refund of the 240 baht I paid.

There are some occasions when you just have to write it down to experience, and why beat yourself up over 240 Baht?

Recently I bought an e-bike on Lazada - well-rated supplier, they seem to have sold lots of them. I really like the little thing, great for short trips to the shops which hardly get the car engine warmed up. I was, however, shocked when the battery suddenly gave out after less than 20km, as the advertised range was "up to 70km", and I had to pedal/walk 2km home. OK, I thought, it had been reading full but I don't know how much charge was in it originally. So I re-charged it, and again it discharged in less than 20km. I contacted the supplier and asked them whether they had supplied the appropriate battery, or one for a cheaper model. They seemed helpful at first, but then asked for proof via filming a voltmeter test, which I can not do. Instead I fully charged the battery and then did a trip recorded on a distance metering app, and sent them a screenshot, 26km from full to empty. They asked some questions about the route, but then did nothing, then again asked for a voltmeter test. I offered to send the battery back, and they could send me one with the correct spec. Their last reply was that they would "check with the warehouse". That was at the beginning of the week, since when I've heard nothing.

I'm being given the run-around, and I can't be bothered to chase it any more. I don't expect to make any trips more than 15km, so I'll just have to keep an eye on the gauge and recharge more often. In general, I've found Lazada pretty good and on the rare occasions when I've had to return something the refund has been made without a problem. There's bound to be a few rogue suppliers in a setup like that.

I would really appreciate hearing from fellow forum members who may have faced something similar.

A few days ago, I ordered what looked like absolutely delicious 4 cans of fish from Lazada. I was genuinely excited about it.

What arrived, however, was a completely different story.

The cans were delivered in a shocking condition — significantly past their expiration date and so badly deformed they had lost any resemblance to their original factory shape. They looked catastrophic.Anyone with basic food safety knowledge knows that bulging or deformed cans are a serious health hazard — we are talking about the risk of botulism, a potentially life-threatening condition.

I immediately contacted Lazada to request a full return and refund of the 240 baht I paid. Their response? They transferred a grand total of 60 baht to my wallet. Not a word of apology. No explanation. Just 60 baht.

I am now seriously considering my options:

  • Reporting this to consumer protection authorities, as selling expired and potentially dangerous food products is not just bad service — it is illegal.

  • Walking into their office and politely asking a staff member to personally sample one of the cans they so confidently delivered to my door.

  • Wondering out loud how their customer service bot is sophisticated enough to dodge every legitimate complaint, yet somehow completely incapable of connecting customers with an actual human being.

Has anyone here dealt with Lazada over a similar issue? How did you handle it? Any advice would be genuinely appreciated.

Lazada is purely an advertising site. They take no responsibility for the goods sold other than forcing the advertisers to give a refund, usually within 7 days of receipt. The site is full of counterfeit goods, which is to be expected as its Chinese owned. I've dealt with Lazada for some years, however, I only buy low-cost items, which I'm unable to find anywhere else. One big problem is you can't trust the reviews. If you return something for a refund because its garbage, the option to post a review is removed, so you have no idea how many like you have returned the item and not been able to make a review.

So buy from the official stores on Lazada. Advice, Banana, BigC, Lotus's, WD, TCL, Xaomi etc.

There are some amazing discounts to be had, got 2x 10TB hard drives for 7,000bht each.

How did you manage to move to Shopee? I have been trying for years.

You already have an account. Choose the Forgot Your Password option and enter your mobile number. It will send you a One Time Passcode which you can enter into the website in order to set a new Password.

I have only had one problem at Lazada, a heater that did not work. Sent it back, full refund. I only buy goods that have a Thai address. IMO anyone who buys stuff from China is begging to be ripped off.

I suspect the OP messed something up if he got 60 baht refunded. He probably only selected one item to return instead of all four. The return page states how much you will be paid for the return so he must have OKd the 60 baht. He can't be bothered to reply back to any posts so he can't be that bothered by the outcome he got.

I once had a problem where seller refused return of a non working electronic equipment sold with warranty and return right – a faulty UPS that could not start up; I already had several of exactly same model, so I know how it works — contacted Lazada's service and explained the case with mandatory photo, got my return ticket, the shipper picked it up, and a few days later full payment and freight appeared in Lazada wallet.

If yopu do noy use wallet, or cannot make use of the refund, you can have the funds transferred to your bank account. A tiny bit complicated precedure, but it's possible.

If you never used the web site, I understand why you have never experienced it. I like reading reviews and which is odd but it is what it is and in the end the reviews are very telling once you disregard "the product wasn't wrapped in bubble wrap" type of reviews. Thais have this attachment to bubble wrap.

Edit: sorry, i misread your post. You have used the website. If I only take a few minutes, it is fine but if I read reviews for 10-20 minutes it happens often. Not a big deal.

I do use the website for orders and checkingreviews and I also peruse the mobile website. I just don't use the mobile website nor application to order anything.

I open an account there 6-7 years ago and barely used it but was active, when the problems with Lazada started I started using Shoppe the first couple transactions they did regular check to see if it was me and ever since been using it on a regular basis

With all due respect, as a Lazada faithful who orders dozens of times a month, I find the OP's interaction strange.

First of all, the return process has to start through the web or app with supporting photos/vids. Then the seller has a few days to approve/decline the return request. Only after this, if the buyer is unsatisfied with the outcome, should he contact Lazada Help for resolution. I don't think you can simply call Lazada directly after receiving damaged goods and demand a refund - you have to start online.

So, questions: Did OP go online at all to start a return request? He seems to have got a refund for only one can. Strange. Did he return one can? How was that refund authorized? Could the OP provide the link to the item he ordered. I am curious about the return conditions.

For what it's worth, my experience with Lazada ever since they opened shop here has been good. The few times I have had to return stuff the process has been smooth - the refund amount's been back in my credit card in a few days. And their phone help is excellent. Short wait time and good English.

Spot on. I had a return a few months back where the seller refused return of the good. I am fairly sure that when that happened a message appeared on the returns process about raising a dispute. I did that giving more detailed info on why the goods were unacceptable. Lazada almost immediately initiated the returns document procedure. Full refund in a few days.

So you don't want the 20% discount or the free shipping?

Those are not always offered on the phone app.
