Wise problems

There's nothing like knowing one's funds have arrived as they should have........Whether it be 'principle', 'ticking it off the to do list', being 'well organised' or 'in need'...............I think i would probably do the same..I kinda get it.......

Fortunatly or otherwise, my UK State Pension is paid weekly, so if i did a WISE transfer each time, I would pay 4 x fees, which could add up to about 20 quid.

Convert it to THB when rate is a bit better, to save about 20quid, if that. Send it first week of each month so IO is happy, as am I, once a year.

In your options, I class myself as Well organised.

Depends on what you ticked when first paid, for me 13 years ago. If paid every four weeks, you get it on a different date each month.

That is because banks all over the World shut down their computers at weekends and Bank holidays, or local Nation holidays.555

That is a totally ridiculous statement.

The banking computer systems operate 24/7.

In the UK the "faster payments" system is normally suspended for various periods of time between 2345 and 0215.

Many banks suspend all online, including APP, services during the early hours of PM Sun/AM Mon for anything between 15 min to 2hours for maintenance.

UK banks normally release routine incoming funds, like UK pensions around 0215 on a working day. It is therefore best to arrange a non FTT transfer after 0215 on a working day and will arrive in a Wise "connected" bank in seconds under normal circumstances.

PS; Thank you for failing to help a newbie and explaining to it what "555" means, especially is it was not funny or meaningful in that post of yours.☹️

How many members do you think look at the date of joining of every member they reply to. Sorry, I did not know.

So 555 means Ha Ha Ha. OK. Welcome to AN. Nad note that posting in BOLD is against Forum rules, please do not shout.

Why not just stop making pointless comments.

Not unusual for a delay depending on the time you send it. During the week I find the transfers happen in seconds. On a weekend it can take hours.

Transfers for me always take until 1pm the next WORKING day as I tick 'for long term stay', so shows as an International Transfer for Immigration purposes. If I don't specify a reason, it is usually instant.

But the new status of WISE here means that if your registered address is in Thailand, it will automatically be converted to THB. I keep some GBP in my WISE and convert it into THB when the exchange rate is better, but there again, a couple of Satang change will not make a noticeable difference to me. However it does not seem to make much difference if I send from GBP or THB account.

I cannot understand anyone who needs to transfer his Pension the day it arrives in their WISE, or other bank account.

My pointless comment was in reply to novacova, who told me that 555 meant 5 houndred, fifty, five, instead of the usual HaHaHa.

First time I have been reprimandedby a Newbie, thanks. 5-5-5

I have been using Remitly, and though the rates are a little bit lower it works like a charm.

As, for me, does Revolut. Almost instant arriving to Bkk Bank as an International Transfer. About the same amount received give or take a couple of hundred.

So you think that my post regarding bank's computers shutting down, followed by 555, was serious.

You would think after using it for around 9 years I would have got the hang of it. There just seems to be a lot of niggly (I hope that isn't a banned word) problems.

The gf messages me, she wants 1200 baht to buy some black shirts as she needs to wear black for a month. ok it is only 1200 baht. Set it up on Wise then go to the UK bank to transfer £29.14 to Wise. Do that then sit back an wait. After a while message from gf where is the money? Check, Wise says waiting for money. Check UK bank money has gone. Message gf that is is taking time. More waiting, more messages, gf is getting impatient. Send message to Wise to inquire if they have the money yet, still showing waiting for money. Said they will investigate and get back to me. Mean while I notice there is a note that £29.14 has gone to GBP????? Get fed up waiting to send another £29.14 to Wise and the transaction goes through in 5 seconds.

Did I do something wrong, what is GBP? I suppose Great Britain pound, has this somehow gone to an account. Never used Wise for banking so no idea how it works.

Just seem to be a lot of minor problems with Wise these days. I have messaged Wise but no response yet.

I have just converted Bht 500 to my GBP account getting GBP11.50, Bht 2.34 fees! Then I sent GBP20 to my Barclays Bank in UK, no fee. Instant.

Simply trying to help the OP out with his GF problem.

For what ever reason Wise has been working really well for USA to Thai transfers lately

I mean only $1000 at a time but like 6 seconds & in the Thai bank for multiple days in a row,

Nice 😉

What GF problem?

I sort of think I know what happened. I previously, a couple of weeks before, I made two transfers, one to gf and on the my KBank. I made one transfer to Wise for both but apparently you can't do that. So the first transfer went trough but not the second to my K Bank. Now given I had over paid I was expecting the over payment to go to my account. That is what happened in the past. However Wise said I need to cancel the transaction which was refunded to my bank less £0.50. Now fast forward to the most recent transfer. I think I failed to complete the Wise transfer properly. So when I transferred the funds from the UK bank to Wise, Wise did not know what the funds were for so in this instance transferred the funds to my account. I didn't realise that at the time and sent the funds again to Wise making sure the transfer to the GF was completed correctly . I assume and hope the original funds are in my account to use next time. So screw up on my behalf.

Glad to hear you found the problem is not too serious.

When I transfer money from my UK bank to my WISE GBP, there is never a question as to what it is for, or am I reading your post incorrectly.

What I like about WISE, and Revolut, is that if I use it to buy something, or send, in THB for say 5000, if there is only 3000 in there, they automatically convert some GBP into the 2000 shortfall immediately and the transaction goes through perfectly.
