UPDATE

British MP Seeks Foreign Office Help for Injured Tourist in Thailand

Sadly, the UK has a recent reputation for only assisting particular groups.

Where does it mention stepfather?

AFAIK, he is the father of a three-year-old daughter.

Read again, maybe you will understand

Just a reminder for you:

Begging is the act of making a strong, urgent, or humble request for something, most commonly asking strangers for money, food, or charity in a public space.

Every GoFundMe is begging

If he spills the beans the child will have the chance to get a responsible (step)-father

I have enough difficulty keeping myself afloat, with a wife, 4 dogs, a pickup, a mortgage, and various health problems. If you have spare cash to give this guy, well, good luck to you.

The OP made no reference to that, that was my point, and was simply a report from the boy's father... he was not begging, not asking for money and made no mention of the GoFundMe.

Just a reminder for you, the father made no request for anything from strangers in a public place, he did not ask anyone to send them any money and made no mention of the GoFundMe. What the grandmother may have done, a subject that I made no reference to whatsoever, is beside the point.

They don't help Brummies?

Bummer.

You can't blame them, the accent is so depressing.

It doesn’t say that she isn’t Thai, but doesn’t say that she is. And if she was, I would have thought that the article would say so and maybe include a picture.

There’s also the issue that he was here on holiday with his cousin and the family is hellbent on getting him back to England. No mention that he was in Thailand visiting his child.

If his child is half Thai and in Thailand then I have to query why he would have “disappeared” until found in icu having fallen under the wheel of a pick up truck that he was riding in.

It’s an interesting twist to suggest that the mother and child might be in Thailand, but overall I think it’s unlikely.

I simply asked if you considered the possibility. Nothing more than that. When I read the article, I gave it a thought.

Another member has since posted a photo of the daughter and she appears to be full British. This information wasn't available at the time of my post.

This is from his Facebook.

Do I feel sorry for him, of course I do, it would be inhuman not to!

I hope he gets home and recovers as best he can.

As mentioned in a previous post, your photo, nor information about the location of the daughter, was in the news article at the time of my post.

Sure. As I said in my reply, it was an interesting twist, but after thought, probably unlikely.

For my way of looking at it and my two pennies worth, nobody deserves to be in the position of this young man.

When I was his age I had grown up and had already been in the RN four years, They seem to mature much later these days.

Was he irresponsible, it certainly looks that way, but I wouldn't wish his outcome on my worst enemy, to be honest.

If he is severely brain-damaged as reports suggest, well then his life as he knew it is over.

A sad ending for a 20-year-old that made a couple of silly young man's errors.

It'll be awesome if he makes a full recovery.
