June 21Jun 21 This is one itty news story.Good for her that she had tissues. As far as cleaning up. do you think she should have been carrying around cleaning supplies?I get this is technically criminal and outside of such places as India we can't have people itting all over the joint, but it is also the human condition. She had an urgency and it's highly doubtfui there was any available toilet in range.
June 22Jun 22 Patong Theatre of Operations, 20 June, 1700 hours:Two unidentified foreign operatives executed an unscheduled field evacuation on a civilian storefront, triggering immediate complaints from local command and a full‑scale morale collapse among nearby tradersIn what analysts are calling a “Category‑1 Biological Release,” one trooper apparently suffered catastrophic gastrointestinal system failure and initiated an emergency squat‑and‑drop manoeuvre against a display unit. Her battle buddy provided overwatch before both withdrew from the AO, leaving the shop owner to conduct post‑incident decontamination.Locals now await clarification on whether higher command intends to launch identification efforts, tighten tourist discipline protocols, or simply file this under “collateral damage in a high‑traffic zone.”
June 22Jun 22 You'd think that local authorities would take a hint and install more public toilets. Or at least, clearly mark any that already exist.
June 22Jun 22 It's not a subject for general conversation, but one of the most frequent complaints I used to hear from tourists in my business was the lack of public toilets. Would it have helped in this situation? Who knows? But how often do we see posts about visitors using the Moat in Chiang Mai as a toilet? We've even had pictures of tourists hanging their butts over the edge of the Moat, and complaints about foreigners urinating in public. If you really want to attract tourists, make the venue tourist-friendly. Increase the number of public toilets, as Europe does. It's even more welcome by the aging expat community with enlarged prostates and looking for the loo every hour!

Is that the option you would choose?Perhaps the TAT should begin an ad campaign, "Come to Thailand - But don't forget to wear your diapers!" That should really pack the house...I have a feeling most would prefer a clean toilet.
June 22Jun 22 I'm going with Brits until it's proven otherwise. No different than Friday night on the high street in Anytown, United Kingdom. At least she didn't puke into the gutter.

June 22Jun 22 Easy solution. Issue each tourist with dog poo bags except larger. Deft fingers can scoop up the mess with their fingers outside the plastic bag turned inside out, before gently pulling the outside of the bag tight and tying a knot.Conscientious dog owners know what I mean. Oh wait! There's the solution, only let dog owners into the country.

June 23Jun 23 Oversized adult diapers are available. If your plan relies on tourists wearing adult diapers, don't be surprised if you have no tourists. They'll go elsewhere. And you deserve it.

Is that really your idea of how to improve tourism in Thailand?

Is that really your idea of how to improve tourism in Thailand?Yes. It is an easy way to solve a problem. What does a Coke/Pepsi cost in a restaurant? 15? 20? Baht. Not a lot for the emergency use of a toilet. The town I live in has two public toilet blocks; primarily for use by exercising locals. They are in or near the park . So although technically there are public toilets they are not super convenient. However there are many restaurant/cafes.I am surprised by you lack of lateral thinking when problem solving.

I prefer French towns, with pissoirs on every other corner. You don’t see tourists p!sing in the fountains there, nor are they required to buy food just to urinate! Charging tourists anything more than a 3-4 Baht fee is absurd. Fortunately, Thailand doesn’t agree with your idea either, and IS putting up more public toilets. It’s a win for tourism.
June 23Jun 23 Easy solution. Issue each tourist with dog poo bags except larger. Here's a better solution... How about an App that shows the location of all available public bathrooms, denoting whether they're free, pay, or require a purchase?

It's cultural. They didn't use arse wipe or bum guns either.
June 23Jun 23 Yes. It is an easy way to solve a problem. What does a Coke/Pepsi cost in a restaurant? 15? 20? Baht. Not a lot for the emergency use of a toilet. Most of the eateries I've been to in Thailand don't have their own toilet. Even their employees have to head down the street when nature calls. That's a shocker for tourists from the nanny states that require restaurants to have at least 2 toilets to pass inspection in order to operate. But that's the juiciest piece of the market... Tourists from the nanny states. Or, as some folks call them, the high income countries.
June 23Jun 23 Beach road jomtiem many shower and toilets setup privately for public use, little old ladies keep em clean 5/10 baht, godsend. Spend a penny in the old days! 😀
