A foreign man allegedly threw chemical acid at a female apartment worker in Pattaya, leaving her critically injured with severe burns. The attack took place at around 8.40pm on 23 June 2026 at an apartment building in Soi Arunothai 2. The 43-year-old victim, Ms Wirawan Aphimetheethamrong, suffered burns to her face, chest and shoulders, with reports indicating more than 40% of her body was affected.

Rescue workers from the Sawang Boriboon Foundation and officers from Pattaya City Police responded to the scene after receiving reports of a chemical attack. By the time emergency personnel arrived, members of the public had already helped transport the victim to hospital. Investigators found chemical residue throughout the reception area, while furniture, documents, carpets and other items showed signs of corrosion and melting.

According to apartment staff, the suspect had been visiting the building while searching for his wife or girlfriend, who had previously stayed there but no longer lived at the property. Witnesses said the man had been knocking on residents’ doors, disturbing tenants and causing concern among occupants. Ms Wirawan approached him and asked him to stop bothering residents and leave the premises.

Witnesses told police that the foreign man became angry after being challenged and left the building. He allegedly returned a short time later carrying a container filled with what appeared to be chemical acid. He then walked to the reception counter and threw the liquid directly at Ms Wirawan before fleeing the scene.

A colleague, Ms Meena, 29, told police that the suspect was a Caucasian man believed to be in his mid-thirties. She said he did not live at the apartment complex but had frequently entered the building and wandered between floors, causing concern among residents. Apartment staff had previously photographed the man because of his repeated disruptive behaviour and later handed the images to police.

The Daily News reported that the police have classified the case as a serious violent crime and launched an investigation. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage from the apartment building and nearby areas in Soi Arunothai to identify the suspect and trace his movements after the attack. The man remains at large, and police have appealed for information that could assist in locating and arresting him.

A despicable and cowardly act that deserves a severe custodial sentence. One has to wonder what would have happened had this individual found the woman he was searching for.

We can only hope that Ms Wirawan makes a speedy recovery from this vile attack!

This is an example where the police/immigration should have taken a more pro-active role in dealing with foreigners.

The suspect had been repeatedly disturbing the tenants, entering the building, the tenants had even handed photos of him to the police.

That should have been enough to pick him up and deport him, blacklisted for 10 years. Sorted.

How about a nice big glass of acid poured over his head and genitals to remind him of what a dick he is.

I assumed this cowardly and jealous outrage was from a Thai. Foreigners nowadays are behaving very badly all over Thailand... yesterday.. Chiang Mai...farang caused mayhem in the city. However...he has fine this several times before.... obviously the cops were far too lenient. Why? I don't understand why foreigners are getting away with so much sh&t nowadays

What was the acid and where did he procure it so quickly? I wonder if anyone challenged why a foreigner needed a corrosive chemical. Probably not. Obviously not.

Why waste money on jailing him. Just invest in a bottle of acid and do what he did to her.

Where and how did he get the substance he threw at her ?
Why, when the police had been told about his previous behaviour, was he not visited and warned ?
I hope he gets found and gets a proper sentence reflecting the gravity of what he did, not a THB 1000 fine. Scumbags like that have no place in any society.

The Thai woman seriously injured in an acid attack by a foreign man in Pattaya has been transferred to Chonburi Hospital for specialist treatment as police continue efforts to identify and arrest the suspect.

The victim, Ms Wirawan Aphimetheethamrong, 42, worked as an accountant and apartment caretaker at a rental property in Pattaya. She had reportedly been employed at the building for about one month and also lived on the premises.

The attack occurred on 23 June 2026 at a rental apartment building in Pattaya. According to police, a foreign man wearing a hat, a grey shirt and shorts was seen knocking on multiple apartment doors, causing a disturbance for tenants.

Residents reported the behaviour to building management, prompting Ms Wirawan to investigate and ask the man to leave the property. According to her employer, Mr Jom, who operates the rental business, the man became upset after being confronted.

The suspect allegedly responded by throwing a corrosive chemical or acid-like substance at Ms Wirawan, striking her in the face and chest. He then fled the scene before authorities arrived.

Emergency responders and medical personnel provided initial treatment before transporting the victim to Pattaya City Hospital. Due to the severity of her injuries, doctors later arranged her transfer to Chonburi Hospital for specialised care.

Police have launched a manhunt and are reviewing CCTV footage from the apartment building and surrounding areas to trace the suspect’s movements. The attack has drawn significant attention in Pattaya, with authorities treating the case as a serious violent crime. Investigators say efforts to locate the suspect remain ongoing.

What an ordinary man doing with a quantity of deadly acid? this is not something you can buy willy nilly or

keep at home, he probably had the acid ready to do harm to the person he was looking for,

but now he will have plenty of time to regret his dirty deed form a stinky jail room.
