Walking in Thailand is good fun too I find. Things happening.

Walking, apart from the health aspect which is very important, allows me to take in my surroundings and take photos which is one of my hobbies

Yep but I guarantee 110% that a gym culture is more healthy than 95% of people growing up in today's world. Is it healthier than how past generations grew up and remained active everyday into old age,

We are definitely going off on a tangent but electrolytes are one of my favorite topics. Yep - rarely the life of the party.

Electrolytes are not really a concern for most but if you you do cardio here they can become a huge issue. I have had some scary rides where I it was hellishly hot and I drank only plain water and tons of it. Never taken acid but sense it might be close.

I add about 6 teaspoons of salt to my drinks spread out throughout the day but the trick is to always have a couple bites of a banana so the Sodium-Potassium Pump is activated. My muscles get pumped up and my performance improves. I increased magnesium about 3 months ago and the result have been incredible. I buy kilos of cheap baked pumpkin seeds that are loaded with magnesium and the zinc also helps. After a week or two I started sleeping even better and no pee breaks!

I'm sure, this is quite boring to others - sorry....

I drink coconut water daily for potassium. I wake up with a woody every morning. Cacao is the best source of magnesium. Yoghurt for gut health.

Apart from that any meat for protein.

Even a better source and you can enjoy it a the same time but it does take extreme flexibility or you could ask a friend to donate.

Here's what they do instead(Image: Sorrasak Jar Tinyo via Getty Images)

An expert who dedicates his time to researching the habits of the world's longest-living people has made a striking statement about attending the gym.

Dan Buettner explores the world's six enigmatic 'Blue Zones', which are small regions celebrated for having a remarkable number of centenarians, with residents reportedly '10 times more likely to reach 100' than those in the United States on average. Loma Linda in California, Ikaria in Greece, Okinawa in Japan, Sardinia in Italy, Nicoya in Costa Rica, and the latest addition, Singapore, are all recognised as Blue Zones.

In a recent Instagram post, Dan revealed that those residing in the zones do not attend the gym. He said: "Not one Blue Zone has a gym culture. They move naturally all day - gardening, walking, cooking by hand - instead of exercising in bursts".

Okay, let's look at those. Loma Linda, California is Seventh Day Adventists: vegetarians. Okinawa has a high wild seafood and seaweed diet. Ikaria is noted for its thermal springs and rugged terrain. Sardinian diet is Mediterranean with wild meats (Over to you, Fred!) and raw milk cheeses. Nicoya: beans and tortilla diet. No earthly reason Singaporeans should reach great ages, esp considering capital punishment.

I have only emphasised diet. It's also lifestyle. Exercise to accomplish something, not just running a treadmill mindlessly or rowing a machine to nowhere, using all your muscles in real life. All these places have a sunny disposition.

These 95-year olds are still active and not addled. My BIL comes from a village outside Thessaloniki. His mother was still cooking for her extended family, keeping sheep to make feta, picking wild oregano in the hills and tending an enormous tomato patch at 97. She got to meet with four generations!

My mother in law is still doing that at 90 and she looks great. She fell through some termite infested boards on the second floor and it was a higher than the usual second floor and landed on some charcoal bags. Many bruises but she was sawing wood a few hours later. Her family keeps trying to get her to do nothing and relax and I keep telling them that is why she is alive and happy. When she works too hard and gets dizzy, she takes a rest. She will die but she loves life.

No time for all the chatter.

FALSE, this is an oversimplification, flaw in our brains to break things in smaller groups, simplify each, select the most reasonable solution because of You, beliefs of the society you grew up in, Inner Circle beliefs and Isolated personal experience.

Gym like mentioned above is about movement, exercise, using joints, ligaments, etc. Gym also encourages proper diet. Lastly Gym Proves All people are similar but different overall.

What works for one person, one group, one region, does Not produce the same Results.

The farmer's carry is widely considered one of the most effective, functional full-body exercises you can do. By simply picking up heavy weights and walking, you simultaneously build grip strength, core stability, shoulder health, and cardiovascular endurance—all while reinforcing a strong, upright posture.

Something to think about next time you gym rats have a coolie carry your bags. 😅

Dumb

Van Dyke did not credit an expensive diet, miracle supplement or complicated fitness routine. Instead, while promoting his book 100 Rules for Living to 100: An Optimist's Guide to a Happy Life, he shared a remarkably simple thought: "I never wake up in a bad mood."

Hmmm. Interesting.

He doesn't wake up and post cherry picking crime articles about Immigrants because he's a racist?

Waaaaaaat?!?

Sure, he lives a long time but he's just wasting away his life.

They also have skate boards, inline skates, volley ball, soccer, trampolines.

Blue zone longevity, my arse; in the UK Tower Hamlets, one of the most deprived boroughs in London, has a lot of people aged 100 years or older; nothing to do with pension fraud, of course, all to do with their healthy lifestyle (555).

It usually does though :) We are all very similar with slight differences. 99% of people that are very overweight for example eat to much. It is that simple. 99% of people that are blow 60 and frail are not active........ Not too complicated IMO.

Kids aren't even peddling bikes anymore. They have electric bikes. Everything is geared towards being easy.

I made a comment to my wife just a few days ago about the number of 'fat folk' in the village nowadays. When we 1st came to live here 9 years ago, they were a rarity, but even in that short space of time their numbers have grown. (pardon that pun!)

And you're right, many folk are now riding around on EVs. The kids who used to walk to school, a mere 700 meters or so now ride there on their EVs. They even ride them to the village shop to buy their 'western style' salt and sugar laden treats and soda drinks.

He is in good health it seems. Many obese people live to 90+ but they are the exception. He enjoys what he does and keeps life simple. Being unhealthy isn't a definite death sentence. I wouldn't want to be him and life is more than having billions but in the end what I want isn't important from his perspective.

True, life is so much more than having billions.

But if you've got them on top what's to complain about?

Your response is lacking specifics. Yes. We know some type of movement everyday is healthy. A reasonably healthy diet with moderation of items determined to be risky or unhealthy is recommended. That Heart health is Cardio and diet. That exercising the brain with puzzles, challenges and multifaceted tasks improves overall performance
