I used to go to the Chula clinic on Henri Dunant. I'm told the Faculty of Dentistry right behind Siam Square is very good. Geriatric Dentistry at Chula Hosp has the very latest equipment and dentistry professors.

Never understand why anyone would go to a private hospital unless they have a trust fund.

Front teeth are usually straightforward. Upper molars can be far more complex, at times requiring an endodontist.

If you go to a major hospital for treatment you can expect to pay top prices. BKK Hospital on the outskirts of Pattaya is expensive I know from experience. Many years ago at a smaller dentist I paid Baht 10,000 for a root canal and crown and I am going back over 30 years.

Yes i can reveal it's Colgate Total Active Prevention. It contains chemicals that stops stains binding with the enamel. Works 100%. Cheaper Colgate does the opposite, don't go cheap. Best to start using after a clean, not sure it does miracles

I've had root canals done, both here and in various parts of the US over a period of more than 30 years. Here in Thailand even recently the most I've ever spent for root canal on a molar was 9000 baht.

It's only a complicated procedure if the dentist is not competent in the process, some of which are not.

Dr Warin in Pattaya Klang, who regularly gets recs on here, charges 8k for a root canal - I saw it on his printed pricing poster which was on his reception desk only last week.

Get veneers and you'll never get a stain again as they cannot absorb colour from coffee tea wine etc etc

13 years this October mine have been in (Dr Cherry Dentist Beach) and look the same as the day she did it in 2013

Has to be best money I have ever spent in Thailand albeit more expensive now

We use Colgate Orbit. Esp effective after a dental cleaning. Whitest my teeth have been in 30 years!

And the three visits were ridiculous.

If a tooth has deep and crooked roots several visits may be necessary. Also I remember a dentist sending me home with some chemical inside the cavity to annihilate remaining bits of nerve. The dentist told me the story that in the old days they used arsenic but were not allowed to do so any more on forensic grounds. The whole job required several steps.

Tea was causing staining until i changed tooth paste

I can't believe I paid 19k at the Bangkok Pattaya hospital for a root canal..ok they did a good job according to the Australian dentist who looked at it but still...

Your place is probably Khun Leekpai's clinic on Pattaya Klang. I've been going there since about 2008, and have had numerous root canals over the years. Exactly what you paid - 2000 per visit for 3 visits to destroy the root (of a molar - cheaper for other teeth requiring 2 treatments) and 5000 for the crown, but he does have a few more expensive options for the crown material.

As a bonus, my current crown has just come off for the 2nd time in a year, and he reattaches it for free.

As a foreigner in Thailand you will always shell out more then the locals no matter where or what. Will that in mind, think twice before getting jobs done here. Other places in Europe that are good and even cheaper like Spain or Hungary who is top notch for dental jobs.

12000 for a root canal at BHP. 19000 for a crown at Dental Design in Soi 10.

My dentist is far from bkk/pattya, but this is an average price list.

Maybe you had a triple root and was considered too difficult for the local dentist you went to. I’d just find another dentist to do the crown and that price will depend on what material you want used.

Last year in the US it cost my sister 3,500 dollars. No insurance. So I wouldn’t complain too much.

A hospital is not a clinic...A clinic is not a hospital...

Did your informant also have an Xray from your Australian dentist, so as to make a fair comparison?
