Pattaya teen missing after planned meeting with foreigner

A 17-year-old woman has been reported missing in Pattaya after telling friends she was due to meet an older foreigner at Central Pattaya shopping mall to watch a movie.

Watch a movie?! Watch a movie!? Give me a break, this is an old falang acting out his perverted pedophile fantacy. 50 years ago this was not a so un-common practice of middle aged men trying to entice young boys and girls to watch a movie with them. I hope they find her in one piece and start lookig for the old falang once she has identified him.

How old is the "old farang" you seem to know so much about? According to this thread she had already turned up, why should she identify him? He may have treated her like a princess and she's now 10k richer than a few days ago.

To be fair, I did it once. As a 'wing man' for a friend. Was also my birthday, so the bar fine was on him. I just had to choose.

I chose and we went out for dinner and to the cinema. I didn't pay her anything.

Went back to the bar later to see if everything was okay and another one of the girls who spoke good English, suggested that I go to the cinema with her the next time, as we could actually discuss the movie afterwards. Then came the bombshell, the other girl was just 14. Let's say that she didn't look like a typical local fourteen year old

Both girls stayed friends with me for many years afterwards., until I lost access to my Facebook account. No payments nor requests for money, but actual friends, talking about life etc.

So no, not all perverts and paedophiles, but no doubt a quite high percentage.

If you have ever taken home a bargirl, it's 50/50 whether that girl was "underage". The independents, Thai Friendly, farang bars and Thai karaoke will be there of their own volition.

Provincial brothels and karaoke may be trafficked or in debt bondage. They'll tell you if you ask.

In the old days, brokers used to travel to villages and "buy" daughters to work in 'hotels", "restaurants" or as "maids". May still happen. Again, all you need to do is ask. Thais are honest about their lives.

I once paid a girl out of a Baan Sao in Chiang Mai. It wasn't cheap. She went back anyway.

I agree, too much age difference is just weird. Look, admire, appreciate, ever flirt and chat, but better not to touch both for her and you.

A note about Cambodia. Throughout the country, lots of underage girls from 13 up, mostly trafficked from Vietnam. Those in discos are independents and over 18, as are those in Vietnam.

In Lao and Myanmar, girls are independents, not trafficked.

The culprit is definitely Walt Disney because they went seeing Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

Yes, agree more or less with the fight through life. Many end up with various deadbeat boyfriends - have a kid with each. Then they have to struggle even harder. While the majority don't work in the sex trade, more than a small minority do. But, yeah, most don't.

Do you hear yourself, how do these females feed themselves without money?

Think before commenting

She could get a job like the majority of the other Thai females in Thailand . Not such an outrageous idea these days.

What are you talking about? They do indeed have pensions here. The employer and the employee contribute each month to two different funds which they are entitled to upon retirement.

None of that happens if they are working in the cash economy.

You've got no idea, have you

If she lives in the village, 100km from a city, where is this job? They don't grow on trees.

Mostly they move to the big smoke to find a job, like the majority of the other Thai females in Thailand.

Starting 12 months ago or so we have been employing females instead of males to run our robot welding bays, they have are better 10fold at following process and SOP (standard Operating Proceedure).

Robot operators are paid 25k a month after the 3 month probation and training period if they prove their competency.

That's a great salary.

I'd say university educated.

The girls working in the sex industry, mostly school drop outs, single mums.

I would add there is an element of laziness also.

Why get a proper job and have to work hard when you can work in bar and party every night, and possibly hit the jackpot, being they get a farang on the hook, which can be bigger than winning the lottery.

I once paid off a girl's debt to a Madame back in the seventies, then paid for her to finish school, she shared a house with me, seperate bedrooms of course, she worked in the home, cleaning, cooking, washing et etc. Graduated High school, then nature took over, she married a friend of mine Luk Krueng son and moved to Germany. No, not all Farang are bad, a lot of us have good intentions.

Has anyone mentioned the many uneducated "freelancers" that don't work any sort of bar any more (if they ever did), that have upwards of half-a-dozen love lorn farang basement dwellers, each on the hook for 10k and up, live streaming or doing DIY videos on their brand new iPhones. They don't even have to "sleep" with anyone.

How many times have we heard Prostitution is illegal in Thailand

But it's common knowledge it goes oh Pattaya is world renowned as the Prostitute city of the World

Yet Thai authorities do nothing to much money 🤑 involved

There is prostitution everywhere in the world, in some western countries it's even legal. It's been around since time began. I used to think Thailand was quite bad, till i went and saw scenes in India, and scenes in other countries. With Thailand it is only rather open around Pattaya Beach and the surrounding sois, and little pockets in Bangkok - otherwise it's pretty much similar to other places.

It does not matter what she does to earn money. She deserves at little bit of respect and understanding from us all...

I hope she eventually finds happiness with a loving and caring partner.

And without sounding too crass here, if she has been found safe and sound, then that at is what I call a real Happy Ending!🥳

Sadly nothing for young mothers who have been abandoned by their deadbeat boyfriend.

Also government couldn't be bothered garnishing the wages from these deadbeats.

That's not the government's job but the family court can be involved and enforce financial support if the mother petitions the court but, just the same as in every other country, it doesn't happen automatically without legal action being instigated.

Right, only government employees do receive a real pension.

Real pensions are contributory, if they are not provided with an occupational pension there's nothing to stop them investing in their own pension their own pension. It's false to state that only government employees are provided with real pensions

Plenty of idea after living for 11 years in a rural area. There are plenty of jobs around for those who are willing to work. Restaurants ,7/11s , nearest big c or tesco , pumping gas , helping in family business...all the usual jobs.

They might not offer the possibility of getting rich quick but work is there. Alternatively , they look for work in Bangkok or the industrial estates surrounding it. So much work in fact that even Burmese and Cambodians come in to fill the jobs Thais wont take.

You are living in the past. Thailand has moved on and there are more factories here than you could imagine.

You are trying to paint a picture whereby young Thai girls have a stark choice. Prostitution or a life of poverty. Simply not true.

Government Pension Fund is a lot higher than the non government.

That depends on the contributions are made, Thai government employees don't get free pensions.

Everyone is entitled to the old age pension even without any work record.

Not much at 600 baht but they can claim it

Whether abandoned or not, Thailand has a Universal Newborn Allowance, a monthly allowance of 600 baht per child for all infants from birth up to 6 years of age. (It is intended for lower income people.) If the mother was a participant in the Social Security Plan there is also a lump sum of 15,000 baht per child to assist with birth costs, plus an additional 13,000 baht in childcare support for children from birth to age 6 (up to 3 children).

Government cannot garnish wages to satisfy child support unless there is a child support order. The party seeking payment has to register their child support declaration with the legal execution department. Once it is done, the wages of a person will be garnished. The more common action is that of the court placing an order to seize property to be sold via auction with the proceeds used to satisfy the child support order.

You can read more here; https://lawzana.com/articles/thailand/child-custody-support-and-legitimation-in-thailand-53

Thailand is far more fluid that that. They've simply copied these laws from the West. Try finding a Dad. You think he's got a job, a salary to garnish? Get real!

Don't forget the Thai business owners who exclusively hire Myanmar and Cambodians because they accept the poor work conditions and are happy to work for less than the Thai minimum wage.

Wake up, my friend. Most of these sex tourists are low-class workers who come to show off in Pattaya for two weeks thanks to their paid vacation. If she decides to go back to the looser's home country, she'll be in deep trouble. She'll end up in some Thai massage parlor to make ends meet, since the guy can't afford it. Forget about winning the lottery, these are fairy tales

Good comment.

And I would add, if there was no welfare for the single mothers in the west, we would see just as many, if not more, girls working in the sex industry

Cognitive dissonance. Tell themselves that they are helping the girls, rather than the reality of exploiting and abusing them.
