When I think about PALE skin, and tones, I think of the Pantone color designations.

I think about the phenomenon of "passing", meaning to be black and pass for white.

But, there really is no justification for dividing humans into racial groups.

Anybody should immediately recognize this is true.

We can separate people into cultural groups.

But, we cannot and should not separate people into racial groups.

I have no doubt that the film here in discussion is a rotten movie, and I would never pay to view it, because someone woudl need to pay me, instead.

This is the same fantasy trash that has been plaguing the world for many decades.

But, the reason it is trash has nothing to do with color.

I see. If it doesn't matter then why wasn't a white women cast for a part where in the source material the woman was white. Why change it? Surely it doesn't matter so why not leave it as is or is there a reason for changing it? Superman. Black or white. Does it matter. Black Batman? Why not. Black Superman? Why not. More than half of The Odyssey's opening weekend gross came from foreign markets. The biggest movie market in the world is, of course, China. Hence,. There's good reason to throw in a few Asians, therefore, whether they belong there or not. As for choosing a Kenyan to portray a Spartan queen.... it's simply dumb. I would say next, put Scarlett Johannson in the next installment of the "Wakanda" movie series.

Agree about Matt Damon, he looks wooden and out of place. How about Jamie Foxx instead? Or perhaps Russel Crowe, although it would look strange him going from a Roman to a Greek. But at least he has the presence.

Talib, as most know, coined the term and wrote the book The Black Swan. Homer does not elaborate on the color of Zeus’s feathers when he went swan-like, nor did he say much about Helen’s shade…only that she was beautiful, which as we all know is in the eyes of the beholder. So just as Tiger Woods is a black man, despite coming from a Thai-Chinese mother and a black/Chinese/white dad, Helen may well have been considered black if Nasim Talib has anything to say about it.

 

The beauty of myth is that allows the reader to construct his or her own picture of the world the writer created. MAGAs don’t like that kind of freedom. Heck they’ve got a white Jesus in Year 0 Middle East, who is far more Old Testament than Matthew 25 or The Sermon on the Mount, but they don’t allow the same degree of poetic license in others, fascists that they are.
