IRAN’S new Ayatollah is even more determined to develop a nuclear bomb than his late father, Washington fears. Fresh US intelligence suggests the killing of the former supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in February has led to the intensification of Tehran’s nuclear ambitions. The Iranian program could bolster President Donald Trump’s case for actioning further strikes in the region.

Here's an idea.....set up some type of agreement (with international monitoring to ensure compliance) whereby some of Iran's funds are returned and some sanctions are lifted................ in return for them not enriching uranium to weapons grade.

Could that work?

No. Its what barry did. Totally failed because they didnt allow inspections and were well on the way to having nukes. Cheers Democrats, another raging success.

Before Trump withdrew from the nuclear deal in May 2018, Iran was under the most intrusive inspection regime ever negotiated, and its uranium enrichment was capped at low levels (3.67%) with stockpiles far below weapons‑grade thresholds and only 300kg stockpiled.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) repeatedly confirmed Iran’s compliance.

There are people within the Administration (Trump I suspect amongst them) who are just aching to use a nuclear weapon on Iran. The main reason frankly will be to feed their "God Complex". They firmly believe that they have absolute power, and can wield it if they wish. In their over simplistic world view, Iran cannot retaliate so there is no risk. The massive casualties, huge destruction and long term damage simply do not register for them.

It is interesting that this forum includes some advocates of this!

But then, as I recall hearing said, the Internet has given a platform to people who previously could only shout at pigeons!

• Preventing Iran's Bomb: While he has used strong military threats and launched conventional strikes to target Iranian infrastructure and nuclear-linked sites, his stated goal is to prevent Iran from ever acquiring or using a nuclear weapon, not to use one against them.

• No one , including him, wants to kill innocent Iran citizens.He's definitely a little out there in some of his wordings, but threats are common as a tactic. No one, apart from die hard MAGA nuts, believe a word that TRUMP utters so why should anyone take any credence of the above?

I kind of like the idea of Iran having nukes. First of all they would likely never use them, and secondarily it would be a huge deterrent for both Israel and the U.S, which appears to be needed.

It's more likely that the US would use nukes than Iran. Who is more insane? Iran's leader or America's leader?

He doesn't lie about everything, although his mannerisms have many thinking that. Americans , including those who back him, would never allow a nuclear weapon to be used again against a country that didn't strike first with one. He is out there and says a lot of things, but much is threats he won't follow through on.

Aside from larger ones, and missiles to carry a bit further than the UK & lower EU capability now, it's the ability to even have a nukes, that is scary.

Smaller, more mobile, that can be carried across borders, say that open southern Mexican border with USA, is the major concern for us Yanks, well, not me.

Hence Trump's decision to not allow them to have nukes, instead of previous administrations simply stating 'don't' ...

Trust me, I'm not a Trump fan. I just wait and see the truth come out eventually. I've watched what the US has done for all my life, in the middle, and trust no politicians until they've proven themselves and still waiting for one to help the common man more than the rich.
