• Although I occasionally hear mice in the roof space. n0osmall animal could surely move that board

• No creature (snake, cow , naked woman etc) has ever fallen into my room, and I've never found any evidence of animals in my room.

So what is moving the board? Wind getting under the roof tiles? I think not - the board is too heavy...

Hmm - I don't think I will be able to sleep tonight.....

Delivery services are many and widely available in Thailand. Not expensive either. No need for you to carry it on your motorbike, just pay a few baht for delivery. Rather surprising that you are unaware of such simple solutions. Probably worthy of a weekly stupidity award.

Yes! But you're showing your age by recalling those wholly-DEI-inappropriate cartoons :) My roof hatch has stayed firmly-closed for a few days. Interestingly, it only seems to become open when I'm not at home for a few days...

As to all the 'helpful' suggestions about buying a ladder, ordering a ladder delivery service, hanging weights off the hatch and so on, thank-you for your thoughtful (and with some, not-so-thoughtful) input. What started as a light-hearted post has been taken far too seriously by some!

It happened again!

The wooden hatch was moved aside by about 20cm.... I was asleep below and heard nothing, even though I sleep very lightly.

So taking the adive of a previous poster, I strapped a light and my camera to a pole, started the video record and pushed the pole end up into the roof space, turning it slowly.

The resulting video shows an empty roofspcae - no sign of enormous snakes or illegal immigrants etc.

Must be the wind moving the hatch...

Lol, I don't think you guys realise where I live! I'm not living in a house on a housing estate etc. I am living in a peaceful house on stilts in the middle of a coconut plantation, about 2 km from the nearest habitation...

I'm not that concerned about this strange situation as to spend money on buying a ladder and somehow getting it back to my house - the camera video shows no animals and so I'll assume it's the wind blowing through the eaves and creating a low pressure region above the hatch.

Some of you take this too seriously!
