Has anybody on here actually been to Thetford? The authorities are itching to make arrests there due to the Thetford Council Watch which has been a thorn in their backside for a few years. They can't bear the public asking questions and holding them to account. They will make up any excuse and go to any lengths to try and stop it.

They might look a bit rough around the edges and not to the taste of the many erudite members of this forum. However if you met them in person I think you would be pleasantly surprised.

Another factor related to these protests is the RAF Barnham issue, with the govt. wanting to move over 1000 illegal immigrants into the RAF base which is close to a village of about 700 people. It is also only a couple of miles from Thetford. So it is not just about the HMO issue.

While I wish it was a peaceful, mass protest, it does indicate the growing concerns about an inability of successive governments to control the borders.
