On a rented property, I would not bother. When you move, the yellow book stays with the property. Way to much sodding about to get it in pattaya. But good luck.

While it's true that being in a yellow book for a rented property has limitations, if you happen to find yourself in a district that allows easy yellow book registration, it may still be beneficial.

In my case, I have my yellow book for 14 years, and it has saved me countless trips to immigration, and the associating fees, for a certificate of residence. I also got a postpaid sim from True, which

Well, the fact you've never had YTB, so never discovered it's benefits, and only needed 3 COR's, doesn't mean everybody else is the same.

Can you please stay on topic.

The OP needs to satisfy WISE transfers.

Read posts above (other then mine) pointing out YHB not necessary.

Couple of experts have pointed that out.

Makes mental note.., Anyone using WISE should obtain YHB.

It's wild that Wise knows which visas constitute a long-term stay better than Thai banks.

Indeed! In my case Wise required me last year to provide evidence of my right to reside long-term in Thailand, on top of the evidence I'd already provided to them of my ID (through passport photo page) and Thai address (through UK bank statement). However, as well as the hallowed yellow tabien baan and equally-hallowed pink ID card, they did also offer me the option of the Thai driving licence. However when I asked them how else I could meet their requirement bearing in mind that I possess neither a yellow tabien baan nor a pink ID card nor a Thai driving licence, their reply was basically along the unhelpful lines of "tough titties, unless you can provide us with the necessary proof within the next month, we're going to close your account". So I then had a final hurrah with them before pre-emptively closing my account with them. Now I don't doubt that their rates are particularly favourable, but even so, I draw a line at having to deal with any organisation (given the choice, of course) which is staffed by clueless idiots.

So what was the problem with whatever long term visa you had at the time?

Obviously a useful document to posses then, as I previously pointed out, but was criticised for mentioning it.

@Caldera Just being facetious with laughing emoticons.

It's all a joke until it isn't and it affects you.

I think it was the fact that your post gave the impression that a Yellow book/ID was an essential requirement for registering with Wise Thailand which it clearly is not (as is clear from the link you provided but not the extract you quoted). There's no point in debating the overall value of book/card, that's been done hundreds of times already.

Not about to banter.

You say countless COR!

I've been here over your 14 years and have required 3 COR.

All done when I had other business with immigration.

All for TDL renewal.

Opened bank account in recent times with my Non Immigrant status and lease.

Will stop there.

I went some years ago to get a yellow house book and ID from my local office. Got started with name, address, passport, proof that house existed in the form of landlady's TB and her ID, with her and and a Phu Chuay in attendance. They asked for my parents' names (which I typed out in Google Translate and then showed the translation to clerk) but she didn't ask for proof of their names. Then... where are your Legalized translations of you passport and your Embassy?...where is your wedding certificate?
Ah! Small issue there. Neither married nor had anything translated.
All fell over in a heap.

My primary reason to get my own book was that then my landlady didn't have to come with me every 90 days to Immigration. "Do it online"? Local immigration won't allow it. Yes, even after "the first one after you re-enter the country". I don't have an official rental agreement or lease - although I cold easily knock one up if I had to.
[side note, nor do they allow "income method" for O and O-A visas]

My secondary reason was going to the bank and requesting changes to, well, anything. Then, I had to take my passport, LL's TB, and her. To update passport details. To update my photo so I could move more money. To have the app recognize a new phone. Still do.
It was bad enough opening the account in the first place, because I had an O-A but I didn't look as "old" as they expected - I was 50 - but timing is everything! Serendipitously, a 70+ year-old German-speaking man walked in with his wife. I usually see a foreigner maybe once every two months up here. So...Providence!
"I have same visa as him." I said. And then the clerk I was trying to open an account with literally took my passport to the the clerk dealing with the German-speaking guy and checked the stamps in his passport and spoke to his wife about Visa requirements, which the man answered through her. Farce.

[Obviously I got the account opened. They still can't manage the "new phone who dis?" bit, though]

My tertiary reason was not needing to take my passport everywhere for hotel and domestic flight check-ins. I had used my TDL quite effectively for severl years but there's always one .
And my future TDL renewals to avoid having to get a COR. Which is free. Except for the 90km drive each way to get the bass turd printed and new photos. And not needing to have the COR translated to English 30km away, and for then the Dept Land Transport (20km away) to take the English-translated document and file it away in any case, as they had done before. And did again. Then they gave me my second(?) two-year licence. I have since got a five-year (well, closer to six due to my birthday and the previous two two-year renewals) but still having to go through the COR/translation palaver again.

But, to be fair. While my distances are great and the local departmental offices (and banks) generally don't know ow to deal with foreigners, I have my own car so public transport management and timing isn't an issue, and it's only once every 90 days, or five years for the TDL or passport update.
In itself, it's not an issue, but the interminable bureaucracy for bureaucracy's sake is painful for an ex-bureaucrat that spent around 20 years employed by bureaucrats to streamline bureaucracy.
I spend less time driving up to Immigration and back that some people that waste half a day standing or waiting in a queue in Bangkok or Pattaya.

@DrJack54 I replied to the wrong post, didn't I? Sorry.

You're right, I have changed it to a down vote instead, my apologies.

I didn't criticize you for stating that the Yellow Book / Pink ID Card isn't useful. It certainly can be useful. I criticized you for a deceitful partial quote from Wise's website. You're lucky that this forum is very lenient, on many others you'd get a holiday for deceiving your fellow members.

LOL
Precis:
1) living where there are FA foreigners, the rules governing local administrations' clerks'work ethic is skewed to: "if I don't know how to do it, you can't do it".
2) living where there are FA foreigners, the queues are short or non-existent; but
3) that's handy because documentation requirements actually change throughout the day in the same office by the same person...which could require multiple visits in the same day.

You have a reading comprehension issue, and should read carefully exactly what the OP stated and my reply on the matter.

Nowhere did I state it was essentially, but quoted only the essential part in reply to the OP confirming that the YTB was acceptable to Wise as a form of verifying Thai residency.

My last post.

IMO you are jumping at shadows.

WISE, my guess will just accept change of address.

I certainly did not need to supply proof of my Oz address.

I in general use my Sisters address despite having several properties in Oz

No proof of address will be required.

Your solution is to obtain yellow book + pink card?

Geez

From the Wise website.
Wise does need proof of address and verification nowadays.
Verifying your Wise account in Australia

Verification is an important step in keeping your Wise account safe - and a legal requirement. For a Wise personal account, you’ll normally be asked to upload a clear image of the following documents to complete verification:

  • Proof of your identity - like an Australian passport or driver’s licence

  • Proof of address - like a bank statement or utility bill (not mobile phone) in your name, dated within the last 3 months

  • Yes, Wise requires a proof of address if you register your account using an Australian residential address. This process ensures compliance with local Australian financial regulations.

These are much the same requirements for the UK.

Point is that I posted link to thread earlier. Maybe page two.

It concerns WISE requirements and discussed in 5 pages in finance banking forum.

Interesting that the op of this thread

@chang50 posted extensively in that that regards options to satisfy WISE.

IMO this thread has poor construction.

If the OP wants a YTB then make thread about that. He already has read extensive options to satisfy WISE.

Unrelated... I use WISE every month (Oz). Checked my profile and see my address is Oz. My cell is Thai.

If the OP wants a YTB then fine.

If the driving force is to satisfy WISE then there is far more simple options.

You stated... "Wise does need proof of address and verification nowadays"

So you use WISE?

When recently have you been required to prove address verification.

You do like to twist things!

You stated the Op would not have to supply an address in the UK to open an account based from there. I disagreed and quoted the Wise conditions for opening an account. Nothing to do with transfers

Please don't cherry pick to suit your agenda. I can do that as well.

Yes it is.

Read the thread.

Also read the thread I posted link to earlier where the OP posted extensively.

He already is doing transfers.

He is concerned that WISE at some point will require proof of his Thai address.

He at one point stated wished he had used his UK address.

For myself I've never provided WISE with any proof of address in Oz or in Thailand.

It's just an app and I entered contact details.

Back to the main point.. If WISE at some point wants proof of my address in Oz then simply options.

If I only had Thai address then also have simple options to provide that.

Certainly would not be necessarily a YTB.

Wow! Wise must be clairvoyant, or made a lucky guess if you never provided any proof of address in Aus.

What don't you understand.

I have never provided proof of address for registering with WISE who I have been using monthly for years.

If in the future they request proof of address I will provide it easy peasy.

Now move along with the trolling
