100% noticed and experienced this in the last months in multiple thai cities and islands.

They try to provoke foreigners to get annoyed and then get into a fight somehow or at least are not doing what thais used to do: avoid conflict.

For sure this is related to recent things and the news even more. As soon they then figured out i am the OG person who lived here already over a decade its a split second back to the usual. But not towards tourists.

Having said that the service, quality dropped even lower and mistakes and incomplete orders increased too.

Its funny how thais are pissed on since decades by the elite but they blame us. The government is that worried they needed to get rid of public guns.

I guess homeless people, begging and criminal activity will only increase over the next years. Economy is cooked, tourism destroyed. Yet they keep sticking their head in the mud deeper.

Meanwhile a 50k baht a year visa with just 100,000 applicants would solve thailands deficit by 5X. Will they ever see the light?

Happens constant and all the time, forgetting sides, drinks, sauces and more. Not to start about cold deliveries due to cheating with multi phones. Or to then arrive with their girlfriend, and complain low wages in the same time, while both could work.

I know restaurants that suffered hardcore losses from returning customers that gave up due to this.

If you go to Chaing Mai you will find it the same. We lived there many years ago and went back earlier this year (Wife's sister lives there) - it is awful. There has been a massive influx of Chinese - many of them illegals and over-stayers - the city is full of them. The number of Expats and western tourists has dropped dramatically - it aint the same anymore. In fact nowhere we have gone in Thailand since returning after Covid is the same - and everything costs a lot more - except used cars. Hotels that used to charge 500-600 baht are all now 1000 and up - and they have clearly not maintained things as usual. The country has gone downhill and the type of tourists and new arrivals is matching that reality - sad to see how bad it has become.

Irony being that the good ones leave and left due to the knee jerk actions blaming visas for it. While the good ones actually fought against the bad ones with thais in the old days. It would be dealt with swiftly.

And the more they crackdown, the worse the quality of whatever it is that comes.

BS entirely, there has not been a change at all in more chinese or overstayers, if any place is bad to overstay it would be CM. In fact chiang mai has been on a slow death since 2015-2016 crackdowns.

The time chinese were everywhere there is long gone lol. And they never had power either except for their visa or house at best.

CM is not just police but also army that controls it and needs to be paid. That hummer of the big boss and his private guards in suits need to be paid somehow.

I think the Thai people are having a tough time given the current economic situation. As an example I went for a hair cut a couple of weeks ago in the Rompo area of Jomtien. The shop owner told me that business was poor due to no customers. Harsh competition had caused her to drop prices from 200B to 120B.

I was visiting and the city was massively more populated than when I lived there - by Chinese (very hard to get around - used to be very easy and quick). But regarding the living impacts, I was speaking about the impacts on behalf of my extended Thai family members that live in Chiang Mai and have done so for over 10 years. They all said the same thing - either to me that could speak a bit of English, or to the Wife. They hate the Chinese and what they have done to the City since Covid - they are all going to leave when their kids are finished at Uni. Expats can stay in their small Pattaya apartment and criticise all they want - but they dont really live in Thailand and other than seeing these Expats around, they have no idea what has happened since Covid (in fact since the Junta). It is not perception - it is the reality of Thai living in Chiang Mai - and I saw first hand the massive increase in the number of Chinese people behaving rudely and badly - and the massive drop in the number of Expats.

The Chinese stay because they are 'hidden' amongst the massive number of Chinese people there now - they dont bother with getting extensions etc. they just say. Plus as you rightly said - the corrupt Army up there (Golden Triangle and all that) run the place and they are getting their cut to look the other way. You are talking about Chinese tourists who have dropped in numbers, but as I clearly said I am talking about the Chinese who live there now - in huge numbers. When the China economy recovers maybe many of them will go back - but IMO like so many other 'undesirables' the previous Govts let into the country post Covid as tourists from other parts of the world, they aint going back easily and will stay as long as they do OK in the 'black economy'.

So what are you saying? You go to a laundry place and the woman working there is deliberately rude to you even though you are supporting her business and being polite? I don't buy that.

Even if she doesn't like farangs, money trumps everything.

And going out of her way to be rude all day to any and all farangs would be exhausting and would basically ruin her emotional state of mind.

You need to give people a reason to be rude most of the time.

Or they will be indifferent maybe, or give you a fake smile, or in many cases give you a genuine smile. And it's up to you to determine if it's fake or genuine. Most Thais seem decent to pleasant to me.

There was a 7-11 employee who was going out of his way to be rude to me. He was a young guy. Looks like he was trying to trigger me to get into a confrontation with him. I just stopped going there to avoid conflict. But if I had no choice but to keep going there, I would have filed a complaint to his manager. Thailand is no different than Western countries. Everyone has a boss and you need to watch your conduct. If a business owner is rude, don't go back and stop supporting the business. Most Thais are smart enough to understand that rudeness for no apparent reason causes problems and avoid it.
