I don't find I am treated like trash at all. I quietly go about my business and since I am respectful and not obnoxious, I don't have any problems.

Neither am I treated like a king or want to be treated any more special than the locals treat each other.

I'm respectful to the cleaning lady.

Just respect everyone and no need to expect special treatment.

I agree totally- if we just show respect to everyone regardless of their job then life is a lot easier and less confrontational

Maybe you also don't realize , is that those you think come across that way could actually have originated in your country, or have relatives there.

Thais who comes in constant contact with foreigners in all walks of everyday encounter has lost that '' Thainess'' long time time ago and are acting out of spite, rude, greed and disrespect, unlike though, the rest of Thai people in the kingdom that seldom do comes in contact with foreigners, muchless deal with them, those Thais still retain much of the Thai charm we all miss so much.

As this topic is about, I have noticed a definite pattern of increasingly UNPROVOKED very rude behavior by Thais.

In the case of the copy shop, it was a new employee since the last time and had very good experiences before. Nothing special. Just competent, business like, and not ignoring me if I had a request or question. That's all I expect -- NORMAL TREATMENT.

Of course I avoid returning to any place that has gotten bad if at all practical.

Again, I don't know what you're driving at, but it feels like you're trying to play a tricky game. This isn't rocket science. I've noticed a a pattern. I've always been polite and respectful to Thais. I reckon a lot may be about my location in a tourist zone. I well understand other people are not experiencing the pattern that I have.

The wife runs into what she says “toxic people” often in cm and I remind her to have a positive mindset because it really bums her out, she does her best to try to avoid them even reading reviews of a business so she doesn’t have to experience “bad people”. She needed to renew her id a few weeks back and read the reviews of the government offices in cm that were all pitiful and she refused to do it in cm and got it done elsewhere. The pattern has increased everywhere so it seems mostly in higher populated areas and not just where you’re at and not just in th. Not really shocking unless you’re Rip Van Winkle and just woke up from a long nap.

You want to think of it that way fine, but it is not what I said. You need to accept that your opinion is not the only valid one. I know hard to believe but you post indicates arrogance which will get you a negative response from most people not just Thai's.
