A dramatic increase in very rude behavior by Thais in Pattaya area

Maybe you had to be there.

No. It's underwhelming. The shouty courier story was an improvement though. I never say "hah natee khrap" as it's a definitive time stamp which you admit you probably ignored after you said it. I prefer to offer "pep deo khrap" which will suggest to the stressed out courier that you are actually on your way and not setting an appointment.

PS: It does help if you are actually on your way.

But why does anyone expect to be treated like a "king"? It's a form of western supremacy, isn't it? I don't find I am treated like trash at all. I quietly go about my business and since I am respectf

It's a no brainier. They are fed up with all the nasty, disrespectful foreigners. It's been slowly creeping in, the good times are over for us. We were once treated like Kings, now we are trash.

It doesn't exist. It comes from your own increasing paranoia.

I ignored nothing.

I rushed to get to him.

You're just showing off.

Your post desperately needs a for instance. Otherwise you're just whining.

Desperately?

Seriously?

Sexpats and sex tourists are generally held in contempt in most civilised societies. Just saying. YMMV.

Yeah Pattaya is a 24/7 orgy.

Even at copy shops.

The action never stops.

I forget about that.

When previously priapic sexpats lose their mojo - then we are truly in God's waiting room - cha ma ?

Surely, these Farang in Pattaya are no more than Rascals in Paradise.

What can we expect?

Every human has a limit in patience. With the amount of 'entitled ' foreigners in Thailand, the locals are disgusted.

Recently I saw a video of a Thai vendor shouting at some misbehaving Israelis.

Thai people are not obliged to be nice to foreigners...

So that justifies treating the vast majority of foreigners who are polite and respectful to Thai people atrociously? Is that what you're saying or did you only post to get another dig at Israelis?

No, that's not the problem.

Since a large portion of Pattaya's revenue depends on this industry.

There is no uptick in rude behavior by locals -- unless you are acting uncivilized towards them.

Many many Thais and Thailand as a whole ..did I say many...never take responsibility for their/its actions. It's always others fault. The diseases, viruses are all the fault of dirty foreigners. The economic stagnation is because foreign tourists are cheap and dont spend enough . Many Thais who don't speak much English seem to know the word 'Stingy'. Use it if we decline an item or service at the price given . That's Thai mentality in many tourist areas.Remember guys we are only wanted in the country for our money

You are not justified in making those claims on here.

Because it's not happening.

A Thai street vendor might moan about all the ahole tourists he's had to deal with, but he won't be rude to YOU if you've done nothing.

STRAW MAN GARBAGE.

Admittedly, it's a bit of a stretch to draw conclusions from your behavior on here that I've had the fortune to witness for a good many years.

If I had ever gotten the impression that you can be agreeable, social and cheerful, at least "on a good day", I would be convinced that you can also put those traits to good use when dealing with Thais.

However... I've mostly seen you in an agitated state, often paranoid and unreasonably dramatic. Those are definitely not traits that tend to endear you to Thais.

So, yes. There's my experience. There's your experience. Both are anecdotal. And most likely a reflection of our own behavior to a certain extent.

Also, there is the difference between everyone's online persona and how they act in public, private, IRL.

Me for instance, ...

although I act like Mr. Rogers (Fred Rogers famous children's TV saint) on this forum, IRL I strut around like Conor McGregor.

So the difference can be significant.

So, they're like Democrats?

Oh dear the MAGA Dumpsters are here. Lake America 🤣

FATIGUE is real. Since the previous government opened up doors to mass cheap tourism, legalised marijauna attracting more trash, soft on crime, it's the locals who have had to face the full wrath of the poor behaviour, whilst the elites sit in the ivory towerrs pontificating how they can get more trash to visit.

The new attitude might be a reaction to the anti foreigner attitude of Thailand's prime minister

It's odd listening to racist Brits who pontificate how their are too many foreigners back in their home country, yet then are gobsmacked Thai's may feel the same - that they too may have reasons to feel the fatigue.

Nah. Wrong again. The racist Thais are welcoming to foreigners for money. Nothing else. Keep trying

Yes! The irony is almost too much.

Virulent racists, but mention 'farang pricing' and they froth at the mouth.........clueless as to the racism many face in the UK and horrendous impact that 'real' racism has on a person's quality of life.

Personally i welcome the foreigners who work in the NHS, work the jobs Brits are too lazy to do, or the Philipino nurse who comes to my aunties house and cleans her up, and checks her health.

So what about the drug taking, violent, criminals in Thailand? Those who make no attempt to assimilate into local culture, drunk at 11am, paying vulnerable women, etc etc - you know the quality visitor.

Ironic isn't it.

Drinking is part of the local "culture" in Pattaya.

That's why there are over 10,000 bars.

Regarding women, that's how it is in Pattaya too.

Go to the Ganges and cleanse your soul in the water there if you prefer that culture there. Shave your head and meditate all day.

Now it's turning into a Pattaya bashing thread.

Pattaya does cater to alcohol and that entertainment - but it's also alot more than the few miles around beach road.

Americans come across as loud mouth arrogant a holes when they leave their country. It’s probably that!

City of angels. A combination of extraordinary foreign and Thai together have made an incredible town.🤔😂

No, I did not say that.

But if the normal lives of the locals are disrupted often enough and repeatedly, what exactly do you expect them to do... roll out the red carpet and applaud?

You seem to have appointed yourself the Supreme Authority on Interpretation, with the remarkable privilege of interpreting everything according to your own whim and fancy.

It is precisely that kind of “I’m entitled to do as I please, and everyone else should simply tolerate it” attitude that eventually provokes people.

But of course, why consider that possibility when it is so much easier to assume everyone else is the problem?

OK I give-up. You are the winner
