Time for yet another trip to get another Non-O [mutientry are we hoping but not counting on]. With a twist, since I just got hired and are aiming to fullfill the 40K/month-deal.

However, much to my dismay, I was told some time ago that the 40K/month-extension requires that the 12 month preseding the application has fullfilled this.

And getting a new Non-O in the region costs 15K+ - and will land many of us a single entry if we cannot show 400K.

Since I'm getting a job it would be an indication that I don't have 400K in the bank [or wanna bother relatives with setting up something in regards to it]. So to be able to work for 12 months and fullfill next years extension-application I will have to spend atleast 4x15K...is it just me or is something off?

For some it might not be a lot of money, but some of us it is. Especially if you are, see above, getting paid locally...

If your immigration office told you this, then that’s how they handle it. The original Thai text, I read in another thread some months ago, does talk about a monthly average based on a year but so far most officials seem to have accepted evidence of local income for three months. There has been the odd post mentioning the requirement of one year.

An alternative for you would be to start with an annual extension for employment, then after one year make your next application for extension for the reason of living with Thai wife.
