What little there is, you'll find in Komtar. But I wouldn't expect to find any good deals there. You'd be better off waiting for your next trip to Bangkok if you cannot find what you want in Phuket.

As “Onethailand” says there are not many good deals in Penang. The Komptar center is about the only/best place. Large air con shopping mall with lots of shops including computer shops. Everyone speaks English.

You can’t miss the Komptar Tall round building in Georgetown, all the taxi drivers know it or within walking distance of Chinatown.

The map I did for someone else some months ago, the places shown are in no way recommended they just happen to be on the map.

Komtar is also the central bus station if I recall correctly - 100% of Penang residents know Komtar as it is the only tall building in Penang anyhow

From a Penang resident ....yes Komtar Tower up stairs but I normally wait until I go to Thailand and I visit the shopping mall below the Asia Airport hotel between the old air port and Future Park Rangsit or the the centre at Laksi also near by called IT centre or Park I think I just drive there with out thinking of the name . I am sure some one will chip in ??with the correct name

Exceptionis the store above the Swansen's (?) ice crem palor, the last one selling business titles and no games. ** I got a new Toshiba laptop for less thaan 15,000 Baht at IT CITY on the top floor plus vat form for the airport. ** I heard, Kula Lumpuris a better place for notebooks.
