I have some concerns about getting a Thai Visa in Lao. Normally I'd just go to Penang but a friend wants me to take him up for a look.

My passport is stuffed with visas and stamps from all over Asia but the last few years I have been doing visa runs and have loads of 30 stamps and half dozen TR visas. I have heard that the border at Nong Khai can hassle you although I was up there a few yrs ago and had no problems.

Another thought I had was to exit Mukdahan/Savanakhet and get a 30 day stamp. Is there a Thai consulate in Savanakhet (I have only been in N.Lao)

My biggest worry is denial or that dreaded red stamp TOO MANY TIMES IN THAILAND...

I have a 72 page passport and it's full save for about 5-6 pages.

I'll be going home mid Mar.

I know how you feel, I've only been here a little over

a year this trip and already getting the 3rd degree. Next

time I go to Laos I may just stay there. I suppose it's

always a good strategy to try and leave yourself some

remaining visa-exempt days. Never know what they'll do.

It's like all time spent in Thailand, whether separated by days,

months or years, is somehow added together as a negative

figure? Most of the visitors here are repeat tourists, call it

karma or whatever you want, there will be a reckoning.
