Pick-up ploughs into the Dolphin Roundabout in North Pattaya

A bizarre incident now from the Dolphin Roundabout in North Pattaya which occurred in the early hours of Monday Morning. Police Lieutenant Colonel Pongsawat and a team of rescue workers and Pattaya City Hall technicians made their way to the location after receiving word of a pick-up which had ploughed into the fountain at the center of the roundabout.

The driver of the pick-up which featured logo’s of a popular Thai Newspaper, Siam Sport, Khun Jutawat aged 28 was clearly intoxicated and sustained minor facial injuries. A second man in the pick-up, Khun Pichitchai aged 32, who was heavily intoxicated and unconscious in the back seat of the vehicle was taken to hospital as a precaution but was released soon after.

Khun Jutawat explained that he was out drinking with friends after spending the weekend in Pattaya for the 43rd World Petanque Championships. Both men are drivers for the popular Sports Media Company and Khun Jutawat explained that he was unaware of the roundabout and approached too fast. Luckily due to the late hour, other vehicles were not involved in the crash and Khun Jutawat ploughed into the center of the roundabout at a high rate of speed.

He was arrested at the scene and his pick-up was eventually removed from the roundabout. City Workers will assess the damage caused to the roundabout and will send an Invoice to the Siam Sport Newspaper in due course. Khun Jutawat is now facing drink driving charges.

Sounds like the second occupant was unconcious before the accident! :o

Drink driving issues aside that would have been a very funny accident to witness!

I'm not impressed. He could at least have made it up to the third tier then the car could have replaced the dolphins

oooohhhh What fun . Makes me want to go drink. hiccup The whole mention of the invoice to be sent his employers is classic. Shame upon shame.

Ok, who made the HR decision with this guy??

Last thing his boss said, "Just stay outta trouble, ok, dokie!!"

If you destroy any "public" property in Thailand you, or your employer if you were working on company time, has to pay for it.

A cousin of mine managed to get his car airborne a few years ago & in the process sheared an electricity pole from its base bringing down the power lines.

The damage to the power grid ended up costing him more than the repairs to the car...
