Briton Says Thai Woman Dumps Him After Getting His Bt17 Million

Some Thai girls are bad Mr Toad. And this is why I will never buy property through a TGF or wife.

If you can't trust someone this much you have no business marrying them.

Your kidding right ?? Since when did marrying mean you where obliged to buy a house for them also. Get real mate, cause some day you maybe wake up in the middle of the night being thrown out also.

There are times, unless you have a solid plan not to lose anything at all (and there are ways) if the woman you trusted so much one day up and left without warning, then not only in Thailand but anywhere in the world, rent rent rent.

I am sure we all have heard of stories of the perfect relationship going bad, and the lady (of course) taking the most. Men need to really do something to protect their assets, if you don't and fall victim, as sad as it, you have no one but yourself to blame.

As for the dude, again, don;t know the facts, it's sad for this to happen, but as they say.. a fool and his money are parted very quickly.

The real fools are the ones who think that a house is what really matters. I'm far more worried about losing my wife's companionship than any piece of property we own.

But they think we are fools. Anyway, different people different values. For me, I would not dump my wife for a billion dollars and I am more than 100% sure she won't as well. I understand that there is no guarantee for relationships, but I don't think I will regret at all for losing anything to her if our relationship does indeed turn sour.

The only direct information on this comes from the Nation.

Does anyone have anymore information, as opposed to rumor and speculation?

DAS, can you get any more information on what is actually happening to this poor sod?

I also know both Steve and his "wife".. Actually they were never married, but have lived together for the past 6+ years... As to her statements that he "Beat" her, I have never seen nor heard of any such situation, and she was always bragging about how happy she was and how nice she had it... Oh, someone asked about her age, although I am not sure, I would say that she is in her mid to late 40's, so not really a Young Girl taking advantage of an Old man...

Although Steve has been married previously in another country, he is not now married either in England nor Thailand... She was extremely upset when he offered help to his ex-wife during some medical problems, and since that time has treated him pretty much like shit...

Obviously all of us who know Steve will be watching this to see how the Thai Legal System handles a Farang vs a Thai, and it now sounds like people all over Thailand will be watching as well... Seems that most Thai's around here feel that she has done wrong by her man, and can not understand why she is not willing to at least talk about getting together to settle the matter...

aussimikes story is great. And probably true if you are older. However, when you are younger and with girls of your own age and not showering them with gifts or diamonds, or even ever mention car, paycheck, cellphone brand o whatever, it's not really the same things. Sometimes you hve to realise what kind of woman that looks for the more 'sorted' older guys and that surely they want stability. With all that that entails.

Have you ever seen one billion dollars?

Thats $1,000,000,000 and if you convert it to Thai Baht then 35,000,000,000

Think it over again dude. :o

I feel sorry for the guy - he may have been a bit foolish but it probably took him a long time to earn that money and he doesn't deserve to lose it through one bad decision.

I hope he is wealthy enough to write this off as an expensive lesson and move on with his life.

Good luck fella...

Briton says Thai woman dumps him after getting his Bt17 million

A 63-year-old Briton called for help from the authorities to force a Thai woman to return his money nearly Bt17 million after she chased him out of her house.

Stephen Jones said he had met the woman in Pattaya in 2001 and decided to sell all of his assets in England and gave the money to her to buy a house and plots of land in Kalasin to live with her.

But the woman chased him out of the house two months ago after she had got all of his money.

He said he became broke and wanted his money back so that he could return to his homeland.

Kalasin chief public prosecutor said the woman could not yet be charged with cheating because the two had got married.

He said the Kalasin public prosecutor office would investigate to see if the assets had been bought with Jones' money or not and would see if Jones had willingly given the assets to the woman.

He said it was possible that Jones could sue the woman for equal divisions of the assets.

And i bet hes a bloke who wouldnt lend his best mate a fiver ! ,but they hand it all over to some issan farmers daughter, .deserve all they get,. i wonder if he made the classic quote when his mates warned him " no,this ones different "

hey, i'm married to an isaan farmers daughter. what's wrong with a good ole' country gal?

Hear hear, me too but I think 17 million may be a bit of a temptation even for my wife, so i'ts joint account in Thailand and one offshore for me

yes Gwynt, agree. Common sense.

One other point - to the other many posts above - I think having kids with a Thai woman changes things a bit. Money may still be an issue - and why not? She's the one who's looking out for Jnr? Right? But is she going to ditch you to move back in with the Clampets? Doubt it..

As for this other suggestion above that farangs are sitting ducks in a money crap shoot, and that Thai women only want farangs for their money - I say ASK AN ISSARN TAXI DRIVER OR A MARRIED MID-SO THAI GUY IN BANGKOK the same question. Answer? SAME-SAME for the Thai guy..It's ALWAYS about money - that's why Sin Sot's such an issue (dowry)

Let's put it simply, you are marrying a prostitute.

Most people wouldn't marry a prostitute, but plenty would marry a high class super model escort.

Aye, but the plenty who could would likely be expats in the French Riviera and not have anything to do with 'lowly' Thailand. To them, Thailand is for the poor mans expat.

a scraggly old friend of mine from Nevada once told me, "whether you're dating or getting it from a cat house or married - you wind up paying for it."

I think it is not such a bad figure when you do the maths.

The guy is 63, and with an average life expectancy of 76 for males I come to the following (sorry for spelling).

That is 13 X 365 days a year that gives 4745 days to live.

What does it cost to rent a girl longtime which basically means half a day considering you get her in the evening and she goes in the morning.

From Internet research I find prices between 2 and 3000 Baht.

She is with him 24 hours a day so let us put the labor rate on 6000 Baht a day.

4745x6000=28470000 Baht

So not a bad deal I would say.

That's a bit over the top I think! The most I've ever seen some guy helping a lady financially per month is 30,000 baht, so, if you work that out over the last 6 years that they stayed together it comes to 2,160,000 Baht.

Also, if you check, you will find that many, many britons live way past 76 years of age, more into their 90's actually!

So, how can you justify your figures anyway by assuming that they will get back together and actually live together for the next 13 years. I doubt that very much so why would he have to pay for it?

Also, I think your internet reseach in not correct. The normal price per day, or night is around 1,000 - 1,500 Baht and the price is reduced for longstay!

That's all well and good if you feel like retraining someone every day. Of course if you have nothing to teach them in the first place.... :o

Isn't number spinning fun?

Here's an alternative point of view.

With THB17 million being roughly equivalent to £250,000 the poor benighted soul could have bought himself an annuity yielding £22,000 per annum - or £1800 (= THB 125,000) per month. That's nearly 9% pa return. The capital is now all gone but the income is guaranteed.

Assuming THB 30,000 for the lady (thanks for the research) that still leaves a comfortable THB 95,000 for monthly necessities like rent, groceries, travel, bribes, etc.

Now, the income is his and she can't walk away with the asset because it's registered in his name.

Of course the residual risk is in currency movements but, hel_l, being alive is a risk - as he discovered.

I think this should be put somewhere on the site as a warning to others. These storys keep cropping up even more every year. Personally I don't have any sympathy for the bloke, coz of his stupidity! I keep seeing this time and time again. The golden rule is NEVER buy a property or any other asset and put it in somebody elses name, even if its your wife, child or own brother! Unless of course you can afford to loose it. I say well done to the Thai Girl for extracting that amount of Bhat out of the idiot. And for him.......................well here's some cheap, free legal advice. Stop trying to persue the girl through the courts, coz you got NO chance of ever retrieving one baht! There, now that should save you a million or so in lawyers, court, and other legal fee's.

But like many on this thread have said, I bet all his friends and family told him not to do it. It's alot of £££ for him to loose, but lost it he has, and he just has to deal with it now eh!
