I agree with Jimmy, there is no need to book in advance for October as many hotels still have large vacancy numbers coming out of the low season slump.....however, if you are arriving with a large suitcase you don't want to be trudging all over Pattaya, dragging it behind you, trying to find a suitable hotel.

Many of the 500 baht to 700 baht per night hotels are on Second Road, Soi Buakaow, Third Road and all the streets running in between. Therefore a lot depends on what you intend to do in Pattaya.

For a night life holiday you would find a hotel near to Walking Street, or within close walking distance. You could try Soi 11 for a number of hotels priced around 600 baht. One in particular is the Intown Holiday Hotel. A decent hotel at an attractive price and surrounded by some good restaurants. Further down the road is the refurbished Honey Inn Hotel at around 600 baht also. (Unfortunately, not much refurbishment to the rooms. They are very basic....and the beds are hard) The Bay Breeze at the top of the street will charge about 700 baht for one night but will reduce this price for a longer stay. The Sawasdee Hotel at the Soi Buakaow end are charging 600 baht.

I suggest that you find a hotel for your first night and then take a good walk around the area to check out what is available near where you want to be.
