MONDAY 5 NOV

Hi everyone.

I'm sure this has been done to death, but I urgently need to know the following:

1. Are the Ranong/Kawthaung immigration offices open this Sunday?

2. If so, how can I get from Pak Nam Chumphon to Ranong on an organised visa run?

I am usually well planned on these things, but my wife's father has just died (in Pak Nam) and I'm going down for the funeral. I had another visa run (Bali) planned, and this obviously has had to be cancelled.

Alternatively, if someone is going that way on Sunday in their own car, I would be more than happy to pay my way for fuel.

Thanks for your time

Hi Big A, your best bet is to head into town for Fame tours. From there you have the option of either hiring a car/ truck and doing it yourself or opting for the mini bus visa run going for either the long tail or Andaman club.Or Im sure there will be some relative there with his own truck who could run you there and back. From Pak Nam Chumphon its only around 100km so not a long journey. PM me if you want the number for Fame as they will probaly pick you up there. Enjoy. :o

Thanks very much, Dunc

You know, out of 2 forums (this one & Koh Tao forum), you are the ONLY person to have answered me. Thanks again. I have booked with Fame Tours to go to Ranong on Saturday.

H2ODunc is one of the few Chumphon residents posting. :o

Samui residents most likely wouldn't go through Chumphon at all.

Yes, I know, but surely Koh Tao ones would? That's why I posted on both forums. Anyway, all booked, so no probs!!

Sorry Big A, I don't often visit her. If it's just a standard visa run you'll be ok. The Ranong office is very lightly stafed on a weekend, as I found out to my cost when doing my first 90 day report.

If you do the Club Andaman route, the crossing takes up to 30 mins. 650 Baht, with stamp. You can turn straight round or spend some time up in the casino. I'm not sure on the boat schedule. Sometimes it's 30mins sometimes 1 hour. Not sure on your Loco but in the south a funeral is a good excuse for the Thais to gamble without police interference. :o
