more info please :o

Any details on the new macbook pros, I was going to get a 17" model in Thailand next week. Would it be better to wait till January?

Also does anyone know if the high-res ones are available here? I've spoken to a few shops and just get the usual blank look and then a completely unrelated answer........

I'd hold off until MWSF in mid-January. Hopefully, Apple will release a LED backlit display with a few other goodies. I have a 1st gen Macbook Pro 17", and am happy with it; the newer units are marginally better. The LED display should improve battery life and quality of color rendering, and there might be another few goodies to come. I would push for the higher resolution screen.

Just beware of getting a 17" laptop. I used to use a messenger bag to carry my computer around... my MBP17" needs a real backpack to spread the load. It's great to have the real-estate for many applications, but if you just think you want the biggest screen, do be careful.

Well the 15" model already has LED backlit displays. I have one :o Battery life gains are minimal but they are a whole lot brighter which is much appreciated in this sunny country.

They don't come with a carry case? :o
