November 7, 200718 yr I bought a new laptop a few months back and it says that I've used up all the space - 60 Gigs. I've been dowloading a heap of music and have lots of photos and videos. The music seem to take up most of the space. I transferred a lot of albums to the computer. Is there a way I can compress them to make more room? Can any of the experts advise how to increase memory? Does defragmentation help? Cheers N N
November 7, 200718 yr Ok, first it's your disk space thats used up. Easy fix is to buy an external hard drive and move all your pics, vids and music there, freeing up space on your laptops hard drive. Totster

November 7, 200718 yr 60 GB doesn't go far nowadays! I have 1.2 TB (1200 GB) in my desktop Yep, external drive is the easy way. If you need a lot of space, the sweet point price/size nowadays is on the 500 GB drives. They are a tad over 4500 Baht, just make sure to buy a SATA capable external encasing for it.

November 7, 200718 yr SATA? Serial ATA (small thin cable) interface rather then PATA (Parallel ATA, the type with the big flat cable) which is becoming or is the mainstream interface for drives now and the future. Simply put, it uses a different cabling and interface then the older drives but functionally identical. Buying the SATA future proofs your investment in case you may want to move it into a desktop computer in the future.

Very simple to add more memory, these days you need at least 2gig, if its hard disk then external USB drive is the easy way to go
November 7, 200718 yr If ya have that much stuff work out a back up and storage plan. One small mistake or failure and you may lose all that data. 60gig is not alot today, until you have to replace it.
