Computer idiot here and I need help. I am currently running Norton internet security and I HATE it. Every day it takes up about 1 hour on my computer doing its live update thing (LUCOMS~.exe) and it paralyzes my computer. I have turned live update off and it doesn't update; it just searches for updates and tells me there are updates available.

I have searched the web and lots of people have this similar complaint and nobody can offer advice on how to stop it.

My subscription with Norton ends in a week or so and I want to use something else...........hopefully somebody can suggest something.

I use ESET Nod32

They have a new interface in the latest edition which is very user friendly.

Excellent detection rates also.

Kaspersky! Though it uses some resources, it's nowhere near the hog that Norton is and its real-life detection rate is impeccable, I have yet to find a better AV product out there.

I second the motion! Among other advantages Kaspersky runs in the background (i.e. low priority) and doesn't hog 100% of the system's resources like Norton/Symantec :o
