Ipod And Iphone User: A New Ripping Tool Available

Featured Replies

Xilisoft releases new iPod, iPhone ripping tool

While there are several tools already out there that do the same thing, this is the first ones to actually allow iPhone users to perform the same function.

The iPhone and iPod Touch use a completely different operating system than their predecessors, which likely had a lot to do with why it wasn't possible. However, Xilisoft has apparently figured out a way around that issue.

iPod Mate V2 contains three separate applications, with the first obviously being the ripping sofware. The second is a DVD-to-iPod converter, allowing those with DVD collections to transcode physical media into a format suitable for the device.

Finally, a video converter has also been included which would transcode various media formats to those usable on the iPod. The software in both cases would take care of any aspect ratios and bitrates, which would optimize it for use on each iPod model.

In addition to ripping, the software provides other functionality that many would find useful. An iPhone manager would allow the use of the device as a hard disk, and on older iPods an application would allow for use of the Xilisoft application on any computer.

More information on the product can be found at the company's Web site.
