Looking for restaurant in Pattaya area that serves thai food with Thai peanut sauce. I love that stuff but have been unable to locate a place that serves it. Any help?

...to my knowledge there is ONLY Satay as a dish containing or being served with PEANUT Sauce, check out some of the food stalls, some of them have terrific Satay bbq spits, Pork and Chicken, small though but some are unbeaten by any of the restaurants!

:D As the other poster says I'm familiar with Satay and the peanut sauce that is served with it. I think it is more a Malaysian thing. I've seen it in the Satay stands in Penang.

I think you could find the same type of sauce in restaurants that serve Satay (pork barbecue. chicken barbecue, etc) in Pattaya. Once you find the sauce you like and get the brand name, you probably will be able to locate it or something similiar in the supermarkets.

By the way, and outside this particular topic, there is also a very good sweet hot sauce that you might want to use on barbecued chicken. I don't know the brand name, but it has a chicken on the bottle.

Many places will have as standard on the menu a sweet chilli sauce that is served with deep fried chicken etc, simply ask for some powdered peanuts (tua bon) to be added. Not perfect but most places will be able to do that.

There is a Lobo Brand "Satay Sauce Mix" that is available at most Tesco Lotus and Big C stores, easy to make and tastes great!

I beleive Satay is the national dish of Malaysia, in any case it is definitely Malay not Thai, although they obviously eat a lot of it. My ex_TGF from Hat Yai was always offended when I told her that Satay, Penang and Massaman are Malay dishes that Thailand copied. She woudln't even accept Penang as Malaysian even though its a place name there!
