Kai Bae Beach

Featured Replies

What's Kai Bae beach like? Nice? How does it compare to the other beaches on the island? I'm thinking of changing my holiday destination to be here rather than White Sands. Any opinions or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Dan.

White Sand beach is more for package tourists, Kai Bae is more for older independent travellers who want stuff within easy reach but prefer bungalow resorts and having a good nights sleep to the noise and congestion of WSB. It's the second most built up beach on the island, but still has some character and isn't yest a total mess of concrete like WSB.

As far as the actual beach/sand goes, WSB is much longer and the far north fo WSB is nicer than Kai Bae.

OK, thanks - but the beach (i.e. actual sand, water and scenery) is decent enough? Comparable to Lonely Beach, perhaps? The atmosphere and character sounds ideal for me, going by your description.

As Scooby Doo would say "Rots of rocks..."

Lonely beach is a better bit of sand than Kai Bae too. Better for swimming as it has a drop off pretty near the shore and also has quite a bit of sand even at high tide. Kai Bae has some stones at low tide - especially nearer the southern end. The north is better at Gajapuri, Chang Park & Cliff beach resorts but the south has the nicer bungalow resorts - Porn's is a good flashpacker place, KB Resort if you want a bit of comfort.

Goo to Koh Mak and stay where you can walk for around 5km along a sandy beach with really clear water with no big hotels only bungalow resorts on it.

Was in Kai Bae December. V. nice beach!

Koh Wai was good also if you like unspoilt quiet beaches (2nd photo). About an hours boat ride away.

I would recommend these beaches. Another few years and they will be very different places.

Danny.

We tested various beaches on Koh Chang in December and always came back to Kai Bae. It has shadow (lonely beach doesnt), not too crowded and restaurants in case you get hungry.

Kayak to the island closest to the mainland and have a beach on your own. Just be careful, the other three islands look closer than they are...it was a bit tough paddling back... :o

I go to Kai Bae once a year...I have been to most of the other places but will never go anywhere other than there any more.

I like the beach and the bungalows are not overpriced IMHO

We went to klong phrao beach yesturday and kai bae the day before,i prefer klong phrao,it does go deep quicker but the part of kai bae we were at was very stoney.White sands is good for children as the north end has no stones and is shallower.

Very nice to see some real pics of the beach as opposed some pictures that usually look more beautiful than they actually are in brochures.

It looks nice anyway. I Will be staying at the Seaview Resort & Spa soon. Never been to Koh Chang.

I have returned to kaibae for the last four year. Rocky beaches, nice restaurants not so developed.

I agree, I was there 13 years ago, Ao Klong Makok who is part of Klong Phrao if I'm not wrong. Nice beach.

Liked Kae bay for a walk to the restaurant with a nice view but the beach is very stoney. Thanks Dolemite for the pics. :o

We didn't see all the beaches, but did find that although Kai Bai beach was very scenic looking out at offshore islands, the beach was quite stoney, and the sea very warm. Like a bath. (This in early April.)

White sands beach is main town, so mostly busy, but check this view from our resort on the north end:

Agree with Changian about Koh Mak. Lovely long beach, turquoise water on the northwest with amazing tropical jungle.
