Where To Find ... The Best Hot-dogs In Chiang Mai ?

I remember 'warm-korv med senap', on freezing days and nights, when living in Stockholm.

Also lovely pork-and-herb sausages, with onions and bread-roll, at Guy Fawkes parties in England.

There are some pretty-OK German-sausages, at various venues, round Chiang Mai.

But what is the expert opinion, what is & where to get, the Best Hot-Dogs in Chiang Mai ? :D:o

( P.S. Mrs Ricardo says "Hi", and that I'm now recovered, from the bird-flu spraying-incident. :D )

Mike's dogs have always been terrible and Dairy Queen has those sweet hotdog buns that Thai's love. The Saloon's are just OK.

As far as I can tell, there are no hotdogs in Chiang Mai that are more than mediocre.

When Mike's first opened, some Jewish guys from New York tied to copy him where the Thapae tourist police box used to be. Their burgers weren't up to much, but the dogs were quite exceptional for Southeast Asia. It got knocked down with some other illegal buildings several years ago.

Why, that would be G & M Meats, of course- near San Kampaeng/Bo Sang in the hinterlands.

German Master Sausage Maker.

Top Secret.....can't give out more info..... :D

Thanks ... I agree, that was a very good Sunday-buffet. :bah:

You'd be better off going to Isaan for dogs. They specialise in roasted dog there. The black ones taste best according to the experts.

Are they the over-cooked slightly-burned ones ? :D

Whoops ... here comes Nienke ... :D

Actually never seen this thread b4 so it's not flogging to me. Maybe I wasn't paying attention over the past few yrs - lurking b4 becoming active.

So when I crave me a dog, I make them myself, and don't go out to eat 'em. I once did a taste comparison of every one at Tesco over the course of a week or two, and found this one brand...Thai German, and really liked their - get ready for the worst name for a dog ever - Arabic Wieners. Not only that, they are mainly pork in content, not to kosher with most Arabs last time I checked (I know, Halal. Me make joke, hahaha.) The Arabic Wieners are tasty, got a good snap to them, they're juicy, and the grind on the meet not too small so as to be foamy like a typical Thai dog. Also the spice and saltiness really good. They go great with a beer sliced and with mustard like at a brauerie, or you can cook 'em up (microwave or steam better than bbq is on these) and put em in a bun with ketchup or mustard or both. I usually do ketchup, probably 'cause I'm more sweet than sour!

The Royal Project at the top of Huay Kaew Rd (opposite the fitness park) sells awesome frankfurters and all other types of fantastic german style sausages, bratwurst, vienna etc...The frankenfurters are the best for hotdogs though..

Hot dog buns are available at Northern Farm or just use any old bit of bread thats available.

It's not exactly rocket science now..is it ??? :o

Help. I'm being chastised, by a picture of a dog ! I'd give it a picture of a bone ! Would that be OK, Nienke ?

Actually, although we do adopt puppies, from time to time, I personally am more of a cat-person. (No. Not like in the film !)

But 'Hot-Cat' just doesn't sound, or taste, the same. :o

I have heard this subject flogged more on the Western Food forum, where one big consensus seems to be the hot dogs at 7-11 or at Jet mini-marts. Arai nah? Like, do you need a Ph.D. in Thai phonology to even figure out which one is a กดไนำรพีนยหรกดฤ"ฯฎณ๊ฑ๑๖๒๓ฑ๔๑๒๓ Can I just walk up to the salesclerk who always greets me with a "SORRY KRAP!!" and ask him, "Hola, señor, ¿cuál clase de salchicha de perro caliente tiene usted?" How do you know the bland looking medium brown sausage does not contain the fires of Hades?
