Best Salad-bar In Chiang Mai ?

Recommended Posts

I like a good salad-bar, plenty of crunchy veggies, a couple of good potato-based made-salad dishes, something spicy & interesting & healthy, some beetroot in malt-vinegar, especially when I'm tired of trying-out all the other food-threads ! :o

Naturally my feet often lead me in the general direction of Sizzler, discount-card in hand.

But there must be other places too, which reach this standard, and which I simply haven't yet discovered ? So where do the culinary experts of TV go, apart from Sizzler's, when they fancy a good salad ? Is there anywhere even better ? :D

Sizzler gets my vote for a sitdown job, especially the creamy mushroom soup. If you fancy a takeout, there is a pretty decent salad bar in the basement of Airport Plaza.

Cheers,

Pikey.

I would have to agree this is also the best bang for the buck as if you order just the all you can eat salad bar its 139 baht or get one of their specials at 159 baht and you have the salad as well as some kind of meat. There are much better salad bars in Chiang Mai but they are at expensive buffets where its too easy to get into the eating what you shouldn't mode. If any of you out there know of a multiple serving salad bar that is better within the 200 baht range I would be interested in this as well.

I like the salads at Suan Phak (is it called I think), just behind/next to the Airport Plaza and before immigration.

I like Sizzler's Salad bar for the one or two cookies hidden under a mountain of parmazan cheese.

Has anyone else tried the Buffet place on Huay Kaew, about a kilometer beyond Rincome/Neimenhimen Intersection, on the inbound side of the road? I find it fairly good for about 99 baht, but I wouldn;t give it rave reviews.

Been here long time, love salad bars, and even in the U.S. Sizzler had it together for the huge variety of vegetarian offerings including some quality soups and international pasta choices..

We tried the one a Central Huay Kaew but were sadly disappointed with the freshness of thier offererings so the Sizz at Airport Plaze is our favorite.

The place Neinke mentioned barely past Airport Plaza toward Immigration has the right idea with their own hydroponically grown produce but so far their offerings do not match Sizz for variety; and their attitude/service/prices seemed to us to take them out of the competition.

If you find something better than Sizz/Airport Plaza, please let us know, willya?

Thanks

Airport plaza sizzler got rid of their Asian potato salad. Love that and miss it... I mention it every time I go in there... They still have it at Huay Kaew but your right its not as fresh or as good as the sizzler at airport plaza.

Things do not, unfortunately, change for the better. I can only deal with a single Chicken Nugget from KFC once a year or so, but their coleslaw has kept me coming back for several decades. Then, at least here in Thailand, they dropped the American-style coleslaw for Tuna salad!

Tuna salad with chicken? Have they lost their minds?!?

That would be like Burger King or McDonalds no longer serving MILKSHAKES and FRIES!

Where is the Supreme Being when we need him....?

McDonald's in Thailand DON'T serve milkshakes or use muffins on their Egg "McMuffins" (they use hamburger buns instead) and no pancakes for breakfast either. The world is going to he11 in a handbasket! :o

And this is not the first time. He seems to have a criminal record as long as his shoes:

Back on topic, we checked out Le Spicy for a salad bar last night - they don't have one. :o
