Visiting Koh Samui Week Of 22nd Feb

Featured Replies

We were planning on coming over for a few days this month for a small break and the full moon party although I have heard that due to more elections there will be no drink served in bars on the wknds of 22nd and 29th of this month throughout Thailand.

I remember the elections only a few months back and Pattaya was like a ghost town, it was really dire (well even more dire than it usually is). The bars that were open had no lights on and no music. Obviously I wouldnt want to waste a plane fare if K Samui was going to be the same.

Anyone know for certain what the situation will be for K Samui?

Much appreciated :o

I hope there won't be new elections that soon!

well, no nothing I have heard of!

Apparently its the Senate elections? Quote from another thread on the 'general' forum...

"Senate Elections advance voting 22/23/24 Feb = bars not allowed to sell alcohol. "

Does no one know if this will be the case?? :o

If not can anyone tell me where I would find out such information? Did Samui 'close up shop' a few months ago with the previous elections??

I need to be booking my flight soon. Any info much appreciated :D

the bars are closed on the 21st as it's a buddha day.

Not that I go, but what happens to the full moon party on 22nd? do they re-schedule it to a half moon party?
