Visa Extension Without Proof Of Onward Travel

hi,i am 60, british,currently here on a 60 day tourist visa obtained without proof of onward travel in penang,expires 25 feb.-[ while i wait a furthur 2 months for my 800k to mature.]- my goals are [a] to obtain a 30 day extension at bankok immigration, without proof of onward travel.[on the 21/12/07 there was a sign posted saying they were only issueing 7 day extensions] is this possible at present? if not,can anyone suggest an alternative immigration point more agreeable. to change this soon after to an non o-, any suggestions as to the best place ? [c] to ultimately change or extend this based on retirement, again, any suggestions as to best place for this?. thanks to all in advance.

Believe any such sign was in reference to extensions for visa exempt entry or non immigrant visas. There has not been any change in normal 30 day issue for tourist visas. The chance of being asked for ticket seems to be close to zero.
