how can be this?

Tesco in Chaweng don't sells any alcohol from 22.02.08 6pm until 24.02.08 12pm

because the Thai government elections.....

Many 7/11 stores in Lamai also do not sell any alcohol, they covered the fridge with

some black plasticbags and wrote some information for customers in thai and english.

90%-95% of the bar's are closed (some open but have no light and no music).

but some small minimarkets in the Lamai area selling alcohol anyway :o (legally)?

one shop is just 50m away from the police-box in Lamai :D

also the 7/11 store in Chaweng (nearly the Muang Samui Hotel) sells alcohol....

and in many restaurants and pubs you get the same drinks as every day.

if everybody do sell alcohol during this weekend so why the bars have to shut down?

the customers from these bars are "FARANGS" and they don't go to this elections.

The police in Thailand are so honest, that the karaoke/bars owed by them, are fined by each other. :o

As the police are so honest in Thailand, I presume that those owning karaoke/bars fine themselves. :o
