Visa Section Ref No Question?

I have had correspondence back from the embassy after chasing them on a delayed application. I obviously stated clearly the following

Ref : Mrs XXXX XXXXXX

Application ref : apet/xxxxxx/xxxxxx/x

Passport ref: xxxxxxx

D.O.B : xx/xx/xxxx

The ref number that the embassy has put next to her name is 6 didgets but doent match any of the 6 number parts of the application ref. doesnt match the VFS receipt no, doesnt match her 6 diget E passport number.

Is this likely to just be an internal ref or have they muddled up the applcations.? The mail i got from them said the passport would be at Regent house today but when my wife went there they couldnt find it.

Cant do much now now until the morning but just wondered if anybody could shed any light on this.

The embassy allocate different reference numbers. However long ago, they started a 1 and are now on approximately 360000.

Thanks for that.................all the waiting kind of messes with your head even though one trys to deal with the issues calmly one by one as they come at you. I am not the first and wont be the last to strung out by the beloved visa process.

I didnt want to disclose the number for obvious reasons but it is a 36XXXX numbe so it looks live as usual you are right on the money - Thanks
