Fluconazole no problem, available over the counter.

The ARVs are available but not sure you can buy over the counter. Bring a letter from your doctor and prescription just in case. If even showing that at a large pharmacy doesn't work then you might need to see a local doctor but if you have a letter from your doctor that will be a simple formality.

There is a locally made generic called GPO-vir whihc contains nevarapine, lamuvidine and stavudine in a single tablet and it will save you quite a bit of money.

Antivir (zidovidine) is also available in several locally produced brands.

Stocrin (efavirenz) is available, but I believe as a brand name import only so will not be cheap. If you are coming from the US it may be just a tad less than there, since the Thai imports are usually from Europe. Same applies to Viread.

I have heard conflicting things about whether or not Zilarvir is still available. It is not longer on the MIMs list. However if it is not, you can get the AZT and 3-TC separately in generic forms.

S-30, S-40 and Z-250mg I have not heard of. Maybe if you supply the full generic name I can advise.

If any readers have had experience buying ARVs in bulk in Thailand, please chime in...

Check out this thread for an idea of costs and also the name of some good specialists:

Sheryl et al,

FYI Viread is also used for Hepatits B treatment (as well as AIDS drug) . Friend was told by dr it is only available thru hospital pharmacy.

The price is considerably less in Thailand lower than Baraclude. The Bill Gates Foundation is sponsoring some of the cost which results in cost in the neighborhood of 1500 B per month vs 10,000 B per month for Baraclude. In the US cost is between $500-700 per month for these same meds!! Ouch!
