My friend, female, single since her husband died, granted ILR, home owner and working in the UK, has a 22 year old daughter in Thailand. She's already been here for a holiday, on compassionate grounds when her mum's husband died. Mum wants her to live here indefinately. What visa options does she have?

If here on a holiday or family visa she'll only get max of 3 or 6 months. Is a student visa the only other option for long stay? Are there any ohter visa provisions for a 22 year old daughter to come and live with her mum? (I believe if she were <18 it would be simple).

Thanks,

Robin.

Unfortunately not. I'm afraid that unless there are exceptionally compelling circumstances, there is simply no provision in the Immigration Rules for a child who has attained the age of majority to seek to join a parent in the UK.

Scouse.
