Jingthing
Recently had a strange experience at Jomtien immigration, while doing a 90 day address report. I was handed a one page print that was all in Thai! I was told, Thai lady, Thai wife, and as I don't have a walking dictionary, I asked what is this paper. And then I was told: 90 day address report. Well, clearly I already know about that requirement, or I wouldn't be sitting there, doing it. So, please did anyone else have this experience? Have you had it translated? Does it say anything new that is not already common knowledge? Why didn't they present it in English? Perhaps it is really a special message for Thai partners? Again, what does it say? I was hoping other people have received the same page and know what it is. If this goes a long time and nobody knows, I will try to get a scan. Maybe this is something new so people don't know about it yet. To repeat, it was handed out a Jomtien immigration at the 90 day reporting desk. When I pressed the officer to tell me what it was about she did say it was something about 90 day reporting and that my Thai lady needed to read it (I assume to translate it for me). Sophon
Just guessing here but it sounds to me like it could be about the requirement of your "landlord" to report you living at their house/apartment. That would explain why it was in Thai and why you were told to give it to your wife or girlfriend. Sophin

Maestro
Just guessing here but it sounds to me like it could be about the requirement of your "landlord" to report you living at their house/apartment... That would be a far cry from the requirement for 90-day address reports. I consider it unlikely that one might be mistaken for the other. -- Maestro

That would be a far cry from the requirement for 90-day address reports. I consider it unlikely that one might be mistaken for the other. -- Maestro I wasn't suggesting that they mistook one for the other, rather that people doing their 90-day reporting must be living somewhere. And unless they own their own place of abode, then there would also be a Thai citizen required to report a foreigner living at their place, a requirement that often seems to be ignored. Since the paper handed out was in Thai it was clearly not intended for the foreigners so maybe it was intended for the foreigner to hand over to his landlord (via his girlfriend/wife who would be able to read it and forward it to the landlord). Artisi
You're living in Thailand - surely it is not TOO dificult to get someone, anyone, like a local with a smattering of English to give you an idea that it's about - certainly easier than asking us to be crystal ball gazers or mind readers. LPCustom69
You should be able to get it scanned at an internet shop for 5 or 10 baht, and then get it sent to your email address as an attachment. Then it would be poosible to be viewed here. Why don't you post a scan of the paper here?Somebody may be able to translate it for you. opalhort I don't have a scanner. Hey in jomtien and the surrounding area are one million internet places - for example Ron's internet coffee has two branches in soi 5 . so it is much less hassle if you scan and post it instead trigger another rumour mill here. the pattaya immigration (Lt. col. ittiporn) is recently re-enforcing the landlords/owners whatsoever have to report tenants within 24h rule with a focus upon the Russian community here. longball53098
Jingthing,,,,,,,,,sorry to rain on your parade here What I'm wondering while reading this strange posting is why would anyone accept this paper written only in Thai,,,,,,,,,,leave the office with a question of what is this? and why was I given this? Go home wondering and then post a question to God and the rest of the world about what is this? Obviously no one has any idea what your talking about cause in all of Pattaya and Jomtien there are no scanners available and i guess in the two days since this posting started no scanner has been made available or a friend that can read Thai? Maybe instead of walking away in a quandry if you would have walked over to the nice people at the Information desk and politely and calmly asked them what this paper is they would have been more than happy to help and explain. Also in your haste to get this posted did you wait there and see who else was getting any of these papers? You surely were not singled out to be the one and only. Or are you just lucky? Lottery tickets anyone?
Jingthing
People are quite nosy here, but here goes: Why not scanned yet? Too lazy, too cheap, no cam phone, low priority (I doubt this print has an impact on me personally) Why did you post? I thought lots of people would have gotten this print and someone would tell all of us. I don't find this strange at all. Sharing info between expats is what this forum is all about, isn't it? Why not ask a Thai? I am man man. I don't ask directions in person (as opposed to online). Why not ask at immigration? Well, I did and got a 3 word answer. 90 day reporting. I didn't think to go to the info desk before leaving. Now that you mention it, great idea, stupid of me not to think of it myself. Don't know any Thais? Agoraphobia is not something to joke about. Please, no more personal questions. Edited March 30, 2008 by Jingthing
chris2155
my thai lady read the first bit of it and she told me that there is no reason for the farang to come to the office in person, instead she is able to represent him if you so wish. that is far as i can fathom. but that is as much as i got out of it, and i will still be going myself in june for the next check in. hope that helps
lopburi3
90 day address report does not have to be done in person. You can have wife, maid, agency take care of it but you should provide them a note of authorization (likely not be asked for) and be sure to fill out/sign the TM.47. bobbin
JingThing..... There you go again. This just like the taxi thread! You start the post, raise issues. Do no follow-up and then get defensive when called on said lack of invovlement in your own issue. Are you going to be a serious stand-up poster here (over 4000+ posts) or just a stand-up comedien? Enquiring minds want to know. Btw JT, don't you think it's time Ms. Hillary did the stand-up thing herself and cut a deal to accept the VP slot?
