Hi all,

I have got all my ILR together but have just left my job as I will earn more money day rating for work. Will this affect my Wifes ILR application.

Also I may have work in Asia to follow onto, what periods will my Wife be allowed to stay in Thailand without affecting ILR.

The requirement is to be able to demonstrate that you can maintain yourselves without recourse to public funds. If you will earn more money on a self-employed basis, I don't see what the problem would be. You would have to submit evidence, however, of your self-employment.

Once your wife has indefinite leave, she can spend up to two years outside of the UK. However, the Immigration Rules require that on each occasion an ILR holder enters the UK, it is for the purposes of settlement. Consequently, if your wife were to visit the UK simply to "top up" her indefinite leave, and the immigration officer were to become aware that her purpose was not settlement, he could land her as a visitor and effectively withdraw her ILR.

Scouse.
