Hi

I am moving to Thailand soon. I have medical insurance included in job - teaching. While i am sure that i cannot get existing medication through the insurance i don't know the procedure for getting medication which i get on prescription back home in UK. Anyone tell me?

Is medication expensive?

thanks

Many medicines, including imported ones, are cheaper in Thailand than in the UK, some cost the same, and some may be more expensive.

Some medicines that are available only on prescription are sold over the counter, ie without prescription, in Thailand. If for your type of medication a prescription is needed in Thailand you visit a physician and he will write the prescription for you.

You also buy a lot of prescription medicines direct from a pharmacy much cheaper than you can get them from a hospital (about half price from large pharmacies near Victory Monument). This is a good option if you aren't covered by insurance.
