Kawasaki Ksr Tuning

Featured Replies

I want to upgrade my KSR to 138cc but when im looking on websites i see 3 different kind of kits? One is 8 000 other 15 000 and third 35 000 Baht. can someone explain to me whats the difference in general and in power between these kits.

Kits im talking about are from this site http://www.bcmotors.co.th.

Would be nice if someone could help me out as i dont understand much about motorbikes.

Thaanks!

The kits you link have a fairly complete parts list and photo of components..

The more expensive kits seem far more complete barrel and (guessing gas flowed) head package over simply barrel.. Big valve sets.. Etc etc..

The mid package comes with a carb and inlet manifolds.. The lowest is just a bare bones big bore barrel piston and camshaft..

I would personally look to include a carb and inlet package.. I would also look to the 143 or even 178 kits..

But who is going to get all these parts dialed in and running well ?? If your going to use a shop, then deal with them for how to do a performance rebuild, if its you then you need to know where your going. I dont know about the KSR's bottom end but be aware that increasing the top end power often pops out bottom ends on lighter engines. I used to port up all the local kids 2 strokes, gas flow heads, increase head compression, when I was a kid.. But once you start that the bikes tend to become constant attention seekers. I could do a upper head rebuild in about 45 mins !! Practice makes perfect !!

22 HP out of a KSR sounds fairly nuts !!

Im gonna use a shop to do it, as i have no knowledge about changing parts on bikes. Also i have no idea how to find a shop who are capable of doing it. I will probebly be looking for some nice looking bikes outside some shops and try my luck there.

Also how many km should engine have done before tuning it?

Thanks!

Then first find your shop.. Discuss with them the extent of the mods..

Really if your going for a full head and barrel, cams etc, then your looking to work the entire package, carbs, inlets, exhaust, etc etc etc.. Whats the brakes like on those little KSR's ??

I would say learn and educate yourself so you know whats what and how the engine sounds and feels and its less of a mystery, once you start tuning lots of reliablity goes so you need to pay more attention. A basic big bore kit is safe enough but those upper end kits will probably need some looking after.

Yeah i will do that, but im determined about the kit. I will go for the one thats 138cc and about 15k baht. Its enough for Samui, i dont need more power then that here. Also i will change the exhaust of course but thats small issue.
