Thai Passport Renewal

Featured Replies

Does anybody have any experience with regards to renewing a Thai passport at the Thai Embassy in Singapore?

How long does it take?

The issue is that my child needs her passport renewed, but obviously I need to give permission being 1 half of her parentage. I will be in Singapore soon for a couple of days in order to sort out my own Indonesian visa issues so I thought I would meet them there as my daughter can still travel on her existing passport. Whilst there we could pop into the Thai Embassy and get a new passport for her.

What do you think? is that a workable solution? I do not have the time available to travel to Bangkok as the Indos will have my passport for the length of time I will be in Singas. and then I am due back at work.

The only other way I can see is to get my passport copied and take it to the Thai Embassy and have them witness my signature and stamp the copy as being withnessed then DHL the copy to my daughter so she can go ahead with the renewal in Bangkok, but I don't really want to do it that way as I want to see her when I am in Singapore.

Any thoughts?

it will likely take 3 to 4 weeks down in Singapore, as the passport will need to be sent from Thailand. It may be faster, so you should check with the consulate there.

From what I remember she will need both parents present...but that may only be for her first thai passport. Best ring the embassy to see what they say.

I thought Singapore requires passport validity to be at least 6 more months upon entry?

That's what "do it by the book " travel agents told me for myself - an Oz passport.

Tuky, the other way is to have your daughter enter singapore on her OZ passport (10 days to issue in BKK) and she can renew her Thai one in singers without issue.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Apparently the Thai passport has already been applied for (getting accurate information out of some people is like pulling teeth), it is ready and waiting to be collected, all that is needed is my agreement/signature and copy of passport.

Looks like the only thing I can do is pop over to BKK in the morning, head on to Central Bang Na and come back again in the evening. I had hoped not to do it that way but it probably will be the easiest solution, my daughters Mum doesn't seem to want to be of much assistance, somethings never change atleast.

:o:D
